You know you want her to join you, and the thought of tricking her or waiting until she is alseep crosses your mind, but you decide to be direct. You have Zhang leave the room and decide to have a talk with LT Gable alone. You tell her everything: how you first learned about the power of your marker, how you claimed the building and it's residents, how you found your guard, and how you've been caring for them since then. She listens with wide open eyes, as if she is waiting for a punchline, but none comes.

"So all these people, Mills, Zhang, Jeremy, they all..." she says.

You nod. "They all have my name written on them. And the girls in uniform swore an extra oath to be in my personal guard."

"And you want me to join you as well? As your property?

"That's correct."

She laughs. "You know, a year ago, I would have slapped you in the face for even suggesting that, but now... I'm not so sure. You did save my life, after all. Those zombies would have eaten me. The bandits would have done far worse," she shudders. "And I've seen how well you treat your people here. The rest of the world isn't doing as well as you are here." She laughs again. "But why ask? I mean, it's not like I would have protested letting you write something on me, and it's not like I could have stopped you anyways. Hell, you could have done it while I was trapped, so I have to know, why wait until now?"

"Because I want it to be your choice. If you say no, I'll let you stay until you're healed and then let you go on your way. If you stay, I want it to be because it's what you want to do." She looks you deep in the eyes, trying to find some sort of deceipt. She finds none.

Finally, she pulls back her sleeve and holds out her arm. "Go ahead. Claim me." Not wanting her to have second thoughts, you quickly write your name down on her arm. "Huh. What an odd feeling."

"You'll get used to it. Now get your rest. We can talk more once you're healed." You're about to leave when she stops you.

"Wait. Your guard. What about them?"

"What about them?" you ask.

"How did you pick them?"

"The first four were chosen just because of the situation. Barnes volunteered."

"And are you taking any more?"

You smile. "Heal up first. Then we can talk about it." You leave her in Zhang's capable hands and head back to your room. What a day.
