Chapter 8 by Sarawalker
Do you Make it to the keep without interuption?
Yes, you arive a week and a half later at night.
Your alert but tired when you first see the keep. The evening light causing the large watch tower to cast a long shadow on the mountain sides around it. Eastviel keep sits inside a mountain pass between the eastern forests and the plains and deserts of the heart of the empire, part of the same line of mountains that your home is hidden in. Finding away around the keep would be both a dangerous and unlikely feat to pull off, so the watch tower sees and its garrison controls all the trade passing though the mountains, the elevation and the mountain side result in massive snowfall even during transition months so most trade tends to travel to the south by ship or even to the north where the very numerous villages are both prepared and able to find a caravan caught in the snow.
As sun sets and the snow white stone of the tower is colored faintly orange by the light you can begin to make out the details of fortifications on the short fortress walls that surround the keep, that are massively dwarfed by the grand watch tower, and also the wooded palisade of the castle town that surrounds the keep.
As you approach the city gate the watchmen are just lighting the brazers on the battlements and in the tower, and you marvel starring upward, it must be 800 feet tall you can only guess that some magic helps hold up the thin tower. The town is modst in size at it's base maybe a hundred homes larger and much better built then your village but not what the stories of metropolises would lead you to believe was impressive.
Galven drops you in front of a two story tall structure on the road up to the fortress gates, introducing it as an inn and telling the innkeeper to give you a room at the expense of the Barron for the night.
"Tomorrow I'll know if I need to present you to Baron Forell for now rest up and wash. I don't know who I'm briging you to for help but it will be easier if you smell better" With that he smiles and starts to walk his mount to the stables.
Who do you see the next day?
