Chapter 10 by wicker wicker

Do you let her go?

Yes, you're distracted (new encounter)

You hear the jangling of bells, strumming of lutes, and the sound of flutes. Without looking you know what it is, a gypsy caravan. The gypsies came through twice a year. They put on dances, for the men as most women thought such shows were unseemly. The women, though, would sneak to the gypsy women to get their fortunes told and to purchase potions they were told would preserve their youth or help them catch or keep their man. The gypsies also were tinkers: sharpening knives and fixing metal objects, and they were like you, thieves. They were very careful not to be caught and run out of town and never welcomed back. You knew their tricks, seducing then robbing men who would then be too embarrassed to admit where they lost their money or pretending to leave town, only to hide in the woods outside of town while a few returned to steal, something they did only every other year or so.

You go to the tavern and get an ale and sit outside and watch the gypsy caravan roll through town. Women danced besides the wagons as the musicians and troubadors played atop the wagons.

Men came outside to watch, children not corralled by their mothers danced and followed along as the men tossed sweets from the wagons, and the women carefully peered out of their windows or doors hoping no one would see their spying. You spot one attractive gypsy staring at you. She had on a multi-colored outfit and scarf on her head and her hair was loose around her ears. She had on a gold belt, you guessed was just gold leaf and several rings you guessed were not real jewels.

"So, want to slip off for a quick romp in yonder hay field you ask?"

"Hmph!" she says, looking at you coldly. "It'll cost you more than a smirk, and it looks like ye are not the kind to have that much."

You keep smirking.

what's your plan?
