Chapter 4 by Orlog4 Orlog4

Are there problems on the way?

Yes, there are some. Jasmine gets manipulated

Jasmine Sanders regularly visits the local church. It is a small and rather old church. The pastor in charge leads it very conservative, which might be the main reason why there are rarely more then ten visitors in Sunday service. But Jasmine is one of the people who visit even on weekdays. The pastor knows her very well and she trusts him deeply. When she enters the church around lunchtime, he greets her with a welcoming smile and lights a candle for her to pray.

Jasmine has very personal reasons for her often visits. Since the night she met Zulakal, the father of her beloved daughter, she doesn't had a lot of rest. In this night she discovered the existence of daemons. And if this story was true, maybe others are too. Maybe Jasmine Sanders had to lice with the fact, that she gave birth to the person, who, according to new testament, would bring the world and humanity itself to an end.

Jasmine would never consider Olivia to be the pure evil. She was a good girl. But she also was the child of a being from hell. The daemon was inside her. In her blood. And one day, maybe very soon, it could take the upper hand. And Jasmine never lost the hope, that she might keep her daughter on the path of god. When the stories are true, he could help her daughter and this would be a way to prevent the end of the world.

But the longer and harder she tried, the more difficult it became to influence Olivia. She was far less believing than Jasmine in her age. And for some years now, it seems Olivia completely lost interest in the church. She was still a good girl. Jasmine couldn't hope for a better child. But without the protection of god, Jasmine saw her own daughter as a ticking time bomb.

“Jasmine, you look troubled,” the pastor interrupts Jasmines thoughts, “do you want to share anything with me?”

The pastor is not alone. There is another man next to him. While the pastor is an old man with bald head and always wears the typical rope of a catholic priest, the other man is around 40, not bad looking and quite slender. He also wears a business suit which looks rather expensive.

“I would be very grateful, if you could offer me a moment of time,” Jasmine answers and looks at the other man, “may I ask who you are, good man?”

“Reverend Gavin Malone, an old friend of mine,” the pastor introduces the man, “he works with a small private community not far from the city. We know each other for some time and when you told me about the problems with your dear child, I thought he could be the solution for your problems.”

“A pleasure,” Malone says and slightly nods, “I was looking forward to meet you, Mrs. Sanders.”

“Just miss, please,” Jasmine answers a little embarrassed, “I was never married.”

“Oh, that's not good,” Malone mumbles and for a moment Jasmine could swear he slightly grins, “illegitimate children are by nature very susceptible to the temptations of the abyss. Perhaps your daughter lacks a father figure in life. A strong role model.”

“Yes, I considered this too,” Jasmine admits and nods, “but we got along very good, at least most of the time. My parents and some friends supported me. And I never found a suitable man who would be a good husband and father.”

“Well, don't give up, my child,” the pastor says friendly, “you still have a lot of time left. But what was it you wanted to tell me? Don't worry, Gavin is a man of belief too and trustworthy.”

“I appreciate this, father,” Jasmine says and takes a deep breath, “would you say, daemons are evil by choice or are they born this way?”

“That's a … strange question,” the pastor says a little surprised, “humans are made by god but daemons, the minions of Satan, try to influence them to reject gods love. But I never thought much about them. Do they enjoy to spread pain and misery? I think we should define the meaning of daemons before answering this.”

“That would be a waste of time,” Malone interrupts and shakes his head, “the devil wants to take control over our souls and make humans his slaves. He hates us for being the creation of god. And whoever serves them can't be considered to have any mercy. Daemons are lost in their own greed and sadistic joy of human suffering.”

“That sounds terrible,” Jasmine says and looks away, “but … you may be right. When they work for the devil, they somehow have to share his evilness.”

“Well, my dear, no man is ever beyond all forgiveness,” the pastor says and extinguishes the candle, “Nobody is not worth to get rescued from the claws of evilness and suffering. He or she just have to want help.”

“Am I right, that you fear your daughter might be manipulated or possessed by a hellish creature?” Malone continues, “you fear she might leave the true path and gets lost in the darkness?”

“That's my fear, yes,” Jasmine agrees worried, “but it is not her fault.”

“Of course it is not,” Malone says and pulls a small brochure out of his suit, “and we can help get rid of this unholy influence. As my old friend told you, I represent a private community. People who strongly believe in god and his way live together, work together and pray together. We take care of ourselves and whoever needs our help. It is not easy, but it is worth it. We live in the way god wants it to be.”

“That sounds wonderful,” Jasmine admits and looks over the brochure, “but I'm not sure this is what Olivia would see as help.”

“Well, people who need help rarely see the strictness of others as help,” the pastor mumbles, “but in the end, often a strict hand is what they need.”

“If you fear your daughter is about to be devoured by her demons, maybe it would be better if we act fast and hard,” “she won't like it, but in the end she'll realize it's for the best. And … It would be better than facing the consequences and know, there was something you could have done.”

“I really don't know,” Jasmine mumbles uncomfortable, “sure, I want her to be free from these … things. But this is a very drastic step. I don't want to loose her.”

“You likely will, if you don't help her now,” Malone throws in and pulls another piece of paper out of his suit, “but I can guarantee you, that she will be very fine the whole time. We will not do anything against her will and she will be asked before every step. You just need to sign this paper for me. Your daughter is only 17, so I need you to agree to this. We will act as her legal guardians for the time of her spiritual purification. It's annoying paperwork, I'm sorry, but it has to be done.”

“legal guardian?” Jasmine asks confused and reads the contract, “is this really necessary? This sounds … strange.”

“Well, I agree with this, this all sounds quiet strange,” Malone admits and nods, “but Olivia turns 18 tomorrow, so it will be at best for half a day. When she is off age she can make all decisions on her own and if she decides to leave, you can take her back immediately. But I'm sure I can convince her to give our methods a try.”

“Well if it is only for some hours and you can really save her without hurting or forcing her, I guess we can give it a try,” Jasmine mumbles and signs the contract, “but I must insist she calls or writes me daily.”

“Don't worry anymore, miss Sanders,” Malone says and tries to hide a grin, “we will help you. Your child will be brought back to the way of light in no time. And who knows. Maybe she even decides that living for god like we do is just the right thing for her. If she does, you will both be very welcome in our small but blessed community.”

And now the true intentions of Malone
