Vivianne ran through the door and closed it behind her. The passage was empty and dim lit. To Vivianne's right there were stairs down to the cellars, to the left she could she the passage running all the way to a T junction, with a soft burgundy carpet and walls covered by wallpapers with intricate floral motives. She didn't dare to go to the dark and probably moist underground and rushed in the opposite direction.

After a few steps she stopped and looked back to the kitchen door; there were no signs of it opening and no sounds either. The people in the kitchen probably decided the ghost had come down by an accident, and went back, making nothing of it. Vivianne sighed with relief and waited another few seconds, feeling too feeble to move on right now.

Even though she was still in a really indecent condition, she actually started to feel quite good. She has narrowly escaped two difficult situations in which she was nearly exposed.
