Yes, she obeys

Kat couldn’t argue. She wanted to scream in his face, but it wasn’t worth it. This wasn’t a real choice. One way or another she was going in that cage. She moved to stand, but York clicked his tongue at her.

“No, I prefer you on your knees, Kitty Kat. Crawl into your little cage for me,” he commanded.

Kat stared at the floor as she moved on her hands and knees to the bed of the cage. York snickered at her.

It was York’s fault this happened, but she still blamed herself. She had overplayed her hand. She allowed her pride to get in the way of her survival. And now, she was facing the consequences.

“How long do I have to stay in here?” Kat asked.

“Get comfortable,” he replied.

Kat understood. She didn’t see herself sleeping anytime soon, but anything was better than looking at York Harrington. That douchey frat bro took everything from her just because he could. He literally and figuratively put her in a cage. Kat was to be a trophy of conquest.

Hours passed without sleep. She tossed and turned in the surprisingly comfortable mattress that covered the floor of her cage. Kat couldn’t rest, but time tempered her thoughts. If she wanted to keep her sanity, she needed a goal to work towards. Something to drive her.

What Kat wanted most was freedom. The system would never allow that. So, she would have to work outside the system, assuming it was even possible.

She would also have to work on York, Kat realized. Find any way to study how he thinks. Look for weaknesses to exploit. Maybe even try and soften his weird psycho shtick.

This would likely be a long game. She thought about all it would cost. Her dignity. Her pride. Maybe her very identity. She didn’t have any other choice. Perhaps she never did.

Eventually, York came into the room. He poked at Kat a little before falling into the big bed next to her cell. Within minutes, he was snoring.

Finally, Kat’s body couldn’t stay awake any longer. She let out a grateful sigh of relief and closed her eyes.
