The next five minutes are spent looking for somewhere to sit together. Eventually settling on a wooden bench that has seen better days but remains servicable. Taking out a apple from your lunch pal that you had kept with you, you manage to slice it open with a plastic knife. Handing the snack over to Emily who blushes out of embarrassment and quietly accepts it.
"Now then, who told you this tall tale anyway?" You ask before you take your first bite, feeling the juice of the fruit run down your chin.
Emily sighed and leaned back, taking a bite of her own, "Ruby. One of my fellow cheerleaders on the squad. You know the type, always cheerful bunny to people she likes but a deceitful snake in private." She answers.
"Okay, so what is she to you? Snake or bunny?"
"... Up until now? She was a bunny... Now I'm no longer certain. She's always been popular with the guys in the school, always having a new boy toy or whatever was the latest fashion trend."
"Sounds like she's just shallow and insecure, using materialism to make up for what she lacks in depth and meaning," you lean forward and meet her eyes, "Now you, my friend. You're honest and quick with your wit. I like that." You end that last part with a wry grin
Emily chuckles a little, "Wait a minute, we're friends now?" She asks in disbelief, her cheeks flushing pink
"Only if you agree to that, I personally see no problem with it." You reply as you take a napkin and wipe her mouth off to clean up the excess sweet juices from the apple.
"Okay... Fine, sure.... No one ever said you were a charmer." She relents with a small smile.
"No one up until now was worth my time either but here we are." You reply with a shrug and a return of that warm grin
