Do you try to find out what’s going on?
Yes, creep her socials
You figure that if she’s comfortable sharing whatever it is she’ll be doing on social media, then she has no reason to be upset if you find out about it. If it’s meant to be a secret then she won’t have any posts about. In that case you’ll never know what she got up to and that will be the end of it.
After a week has gone by you’re pretty sure it’s in the latter category.
But then you start to notice some changes in her profile. She’s added some new friends, mostly women, and a lot of them are mutuals with each other. She’s liked and shared some of their posts. And those new friends are all connected to what looks at first glance like a theatre company. But clicking through to their homepage reveals the truth: It’s a troupe of burlesque performers.
That explains why Liz didn’t just come out and say what she was practising for. You know that some of the people in her social circles are pretty socially conservative. Especially her business contacts. That also explains why she was asking you specifically to help her.
By the third week all doubt has been cast aside as you see a post announcing that Liz, or rather “Gabby LaRasa”, will be making her stage debut in a show that Saturday night.
Well now, you face a conundrum. Do you go to the show and risk being spotted by her and thought of as a creep? You could always argue that you are there to support her. Or you could just wait and hope for some post-show selfies.
