Chapter 21 by porneia porneia

Is the Riddler's plan fully defeated?

Yes, but there is still a fox in the hen house.

Concerned that Selina still needs some time to recover you ask if she can secure Riddler and his men while you head upstairs. Easily freeing Director Dent, who thankfully wasn't hurt, you locate the staff who are locked and tied up in a storage room. Leaving Dent to untie them and call the police, you conclude that all of the Riddler's men have been captured or have fled. Returning back to the basement you find Selina finishing tying up the bad guys to a sturdy iron pipe.

“Everyone is safe.” You announce your arrival. “Are these guys fully secure? I would hate for any of them to get out before the police arrive.”

“I know my bondage.” Kyle gives you an incredulous look.

“Yeah, I probably should have figured that out,” you fire back, “with the leather catsuit and whip and all.”

“Are you complaining?”

“No.” You simply answer.

“Only thing left is for us to make sure the collection, and especially the necklace, is still secure.” She comments, ignoring your quick, but blatant look at her still unzipped cleavage.

“That makes sense,” you respond and the two of you head towards the elevator, “maybe the Riddler went there first and . . . Wait! Wait a minute!!”

You stop dead in your tracks and look at Selina with a judgmental glare. “'US?!' After all this, you want ME to take YOU to the vault and to the jewels?!”

“I promise I won't steal any jewelry.” She puts her left hand over her chest and raises her right hand, “Scouts' honor.”

“You were never a girl scout.” You flatly reply.

“Well, yeah.” Seline rolls her eyes. “Strippers' honor, then.”

“You were a stripper?” That line does catch your curiosity.

“Money was tight my senior year.” She nonchalantly answers. “Come on, I just want a look, I'll be good, I promise.” She gives you those beautiful emerald eyes.

“Are you kidding me.” You exclaim. “There is no way I am bring you anywhere near those jewels!”

“You can watch me like a hawk.” Reaching behind to her belt she produces a pair of black handcuffs. Extending her wrists to you she offers, “You can cuff me, if that makes you feel better.” She smiles.

“No.” You answer, though you begin to fight against certain images that are now appearing in your mind.

Placing her hands behind her head she arches her back a bit, having that mouth-watering cleavage every so slightly trust forward. “If you're really that skeptical, you can strip-search me afterwards.”

“Um.” You mutter as you look at her offering, until you realize you're being played again.

“Selina.” Your voice goes serious. “Thank you saving me life. But we both know the only reason you came here tonight was to steal that necklace."

Dropping the playful facade she looks down at the floor for a second and then back up at you. Her face is melancholy. “That's not true, David. I did come here to steal the necklace, but that is not the 'only reason.'” She steps in close and lightly puts her hand on your chest. “You can ask Leslie, I did want to meet you after hearing all those stories she told about your kindness."

Selina looks up at you, “When I told you back in your apartment that 'you're a good man' and that I hoped you would 'enjoy your birthday' that wasn't lie. Yes, at first, I was trying to manipulate you to take me to the this museum, but by the time of that boat ride, I just couldn't do it any more. I care for you too much now. I couldn't hurt you. That's why I left.”

She steps away and takes your hands, “I have to tell my employer what happened. These are very dangerous men that have hired me and I cannot double cross them. If the necklace is missing then I can honestly report that the Riddler probably took it and it's now missing. If it's still upstairs, I can report back that the Riddler has so compromised the operation that stealing it without a major investigation happening is now impossible. Either way, I can walk away from this job and be safe.

Please David, I promise I will not steal one single piece of jewelry. Once I confirm the necklace's status my job's done here in Metropolis, I will not bother you or the Athenaeum ever again. I can go back to Gotham if you like, but I would rather stay and figure out some personal business with a new friend I have just made.”

Do you take Selina to see the necklace?
