Yes, but Courtney is hurt

You take a look over at Tommy and are glad to see that the fury in his eyes has dispersed. You remember your dad telling you about how he had gotten himself arrested for hitting one of these punks a few years ago when they ditched Kathryn at a lakeside party after putting out all the lights and bonfires. The judge had given him probation but warned him about what would happen the next time.

“I’m glad you’ve calmed down Tommy! I don’t want to be spending the rest of my first paycheck bailing you out of jail!” You say to him.

“That’s good, ‘cause I don’t want you too either!!! I’d want you to be in there with me” He responds. Tommy chuckles and then soon bursts into laughter. His laughing fit goes on for about ten seconds before you get a feeling that something is wrong. You turn around and look to where Jeremy is. He is crying.

“Mr…Mr. John!!! There’s somethin’ a matter with Courtney!!!” He says through his tears. You look at your best friend’s daughter and see her lying on the ground. She is shaking all over and there is a cut on the side of her head.

“SHIT!!! TOMMY, JIMMY CALL AN AMBULANCE!!!” You shout as you run over to the kids. It takes two seconds for Jimmy to assess the situation.

“Dispatch, 2-7 Deputy here, we need an ambulance at the amusement park. We’ve got a four year old Caucasian female having a seizure.” He shouts. You quickly grab Jeremy and move him away from Courtney. Your heart is breaking as you see the helpless little girl writhe around on the ground. As you hear Jimmy talking on the radio, you see the group of kids run off. Tommy goes after them, as do the other parents. You want nothing more than to chase down and kill those little bastards but for some reason, your gut tells you that you belong with Courtney. Kathryn and Carissa take Jeremy from you and bring him over to another ride.

“Roger 2-7 Deputy. What is your 20 in the park?” You hear from the radio.

“The carousel! Also, send over backup. There is a small group of Caucasian teens in the park linked with this incident that needs to be picked up.” He finishes and then joins you. By this time, Courtney has finished seizing and is looking around with terrified eyes. She looks at you and starts crying.

“I…I want my daddy!!!” She says as she bursts into tears and reaches for you. You instinctively drop down next to her and embrace her. You place your hand over the cut and this seems to sooth her pain a little as the ambulance pulls up.
