Do you follow up on your comment?
Yes, because you have to man up
The evening progressed pleasantly after leaving the restaurant.
"Where are we going next, Naruto?" Shizune asked.
You scooped her into a princess carry, getting a yelp of surprise from her. "Close your eyes and hang on," you instructed. She put her arms around your head and buried her face in your neck, her breath tickling you. You took a deep breath, inhaling her scent. "Here I go," you said, activating the Shunshin to a predetermined spot. "You may open your eyes now," you told her when you arrived.
Still in your arms, Shizune opened her eyes and looked forward. The cityscape of the village stretched out below them.
"This is..." she started.
"Yup, on the Fourth," you confirmed, referring to the fact you were on the Fourth Hokage section of the Hokage Rock.
"It's beautiful," Shizune breathed out.
"And so are you," you said, a genuine sentiment that seemed to surprise even you. Shizune blushed and buried her face on your neck again, this time from embarrassment.
"Naruto-kun," she began, her voice muffled slightly against your neck. "Do you remember how I made you stop calling me neechan?"
You simply nodded, allowing her to continue.
"Well, I did that because a while ago, maybe a few years ago, I stopped seeing you as my otouto," Shizune tried to explain, her voice wavering slightly. "I started seeing you as a man, a man that I had eventually fallen in love with." Her eyes darted to the ground, unable to bear the look in your eyes.
"Shi—" you started. She stopped you by holding a hand up. She knew if she didn't get this all out now, she never would.
"I started to get you to call me Shizune-chan because I knew that brothers weren't supposed to love their sisters, not like that, anyway. So I hoped that by calling me Shizune-chan you might see me in a way other than as a sister... as a woman," she finished, still looking down. "I'm selfish, aren't I."
She was bracing herself for you to laugh or say something dismissive. What she didn't expect was to be enveloped in a warm hug. Her last defenses shattered, and she shed silent tears into your chest.
"Shizune-chan," you said, the intensity in your voice pulling her out of her tears. "Shizune-chan, please; I never want to see you cry because of me again," you told her, holding her tightly. She looked up at you, not sure where you were going. "If seeing you as a woman is what it takes to never see you cry because of me again, then... I'll gladly do it," you declared, your heart aching at the pain you had unintentionally caused. "I promise you I won't hurt you again," you said solemnly.
Your faces drew closer. She could feel your warm breath on her lips, and then your lips touched. It was an innocent kiss, a quick peck before separating. Before either of you realized it, you were pulling each other back in for a deeper, more passionate kiss.
Just as your lips met for the second time, the first fireworks for the evening erupted, lighting up the night sky in celebration of the Yondaime's festival. But neither of you paid any real attention.
When you finally separated for air, you turned to watch the fireworks, holding hands as you appreciated the show.
