Chapter 467 by sexyslave sexyslave

Pursue that line of dialogue?

Yes, and talk about his own experiences!

"You... Don't have a Quirk?" Izuku asked Melissa slowly.

"Nope. I was taken to the doctor when I was five, and told I was in the minority of people who would never develop a power," she answered, before muttering to herself about where she had put something.

"...exactly like I was..." Izuku muttered aloud without realizing it.

"I'm sorry? What do you mean? You have a Quirk, don't you?" Melissa asked as she finally found what she was looking for, standing up and holding a box.

Izuku flinched, and decided to use the cover story he'd come up with. "Actually, I was thought Quirkless for a long time myself. Mine works by channeling energy it builds up over time to increase my physical capabilities, but for a while, my Quirk didn't give me any access to that stockpile until it had enough to make use of," he "explained." "So, even though I had a Quirk, it didn't look like I did, because it did nothing obvious. So... I know how difficult it is."

"...well, I was definitely in shock for a while, but I can't say it was as difficult for me as it was for others," Melissa replied, standing in front of Izuku. "Even though you ultimately turned out to have a Quirk, I bet you had a rougher time of it than I did."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Izuku questioned.

"Well, for one thing, I heard that most who are Quirkless are often targeted for bullying, and seen as less in general... But I can't really say that ever happened to me, at least not blatantly. After all, given who my father was, I think I was insulated from the worst of such things, so at worst, people just kept me at arm's length, growing up," Melissa explained.

"...right, that makes sense," Izuku nodded slowly. With how famous and influential David Shield was, no one wanted to end up on his shit list, and anyone with two brain cells to rub together would be able to figure out that mistreating someone's daughter was basically a one way ticket to a spot on said list. Teachers in her school were far less liable to look the other way if anything did happen too.

"It also helped that I had another goal close to my heart," Melissa added, turning her gaze to look towards a picture of David. "Papa isn't Quirkless himself, but his Quirk isn't the kind that would let him be a Hero, but he makes a difference in other ways. He supports Heroes with the power of science. He fights for peace, but... In a different way... I want to be like him." She then opened the box, revealing a red bracelet. "This is a Support Item I made from observing Uncle Might. Let me see your arm," she told him.

"Okay..." Izuku obliged, and when Melissa felt his muscles in his forearm while placing the gauntlet on, she felt the slightest, pleasant tingle in her mind.

Blinking, she brushed it off, before catching herself thinking, "Wow, he's in great shape... I wonder what he'd look like with his shirt off... Wait, why am I thinking that all of a sudden? No! Bad Melissa!" She shook her head, flushing slightly.

"Um, you okay?" Izuku questioned.

"Oh, I just spaced out a moment," she waved him off, before telling him to push a button on the bracelet. Curious, he obliged, and it glowed, before expanding into a complete gauntlet. "I call it Full Gauntlet. When we met, you guys mentioned you could only handle a portion of the power of your Quirk, and I noticed during the Villain Course that you were holding back, and still put yourself under some strain. That gauntlet is a prototype, but I estimate that it can handle Uncle Might's full power three times. It'll support your arm, and keep you from damaging it even at full power while you have it on."

"Whoa, for real?" Izuku asked, staring in wonder. Three punches at full power... That was not something to be ignored. "Wait, you're actually giving this to me?"

"Of course!" Melissa smiled. "I told you, I'm looking to make a difference in my own way, and if that helps you at any point, then I'll have done so! Just promise that you'll become a great Hero who never stops helping people in need!"

"Well... That's something I already promised myself and many others, but I can extend that to you too," Izuku replied, before his phone started buzzing.

Who's calling?
