Is he able to calm the poor girl down?
Yes, and he chats with her.
"I am so sorry about that idiot," Kazuma told the girl as they reached his bedroom. "She's one of those "holier than thou," Arch Priest types, but she's incompetent and rather bigoted against devils and the undead. I wasn't expecting the spirit barrier either, like I said, she's normally quite incompetent."
"I mean... Isn't everyone a little bigoted against devils and undead?" the girl asked shakily as she and Kazuma sat on his bed. "We and undead are usually pretty dangerous to people..."
"I mean, sure, legitimate threats do need to be dealt with, but anyone who can find a way to safely coexist with people deserves a chance and to be treated fairly," Kazuma replied, putting a hand on her shoulder. "And it's not like your specific kind of devil were going around attacking guys for fun, it was just a food source and necessary way of life for you until you came up with a way to feed on vitality without causing harm. So I don't discriminate based on species... I discriminate based on a person's actions towards me, otherwise, I just hate everyone equally," he joked. "I'm a bit of an asshole like that."
This actually got the girl to giggle, calming down a bit. "You certainly seem to have a... Unique outlook on life..."
"...I have a rather unique life, period," Kazuma replied. "To be perfectly frank, the two sanest members of my party are a dragon fangirl, and an adrenaline junkie who actively pranks people she knows can and will kick her ass over it. And the circumstances in which they joined my party are pretty unique in of themselves..."
"Sounds interesting," she admitted. "So they're always like that then?"
"Worse," Kazuma slumped in some comical depression. "... anyways, onto business I guess... I suppose I'll just lay down and try to sleep..."
"No need!" she said brightly, holding a hand up to him. "Sleep!" she cast. Immediately, Kazuma dropped, out like a light.
