Chapter 5

Do the men respect the law?
Yeah right...
The six men looked up, and upon seeing Lisa, they laughed.
“Move along, girlie.” One of them growled, continuing his carving of the greenhorn. “This ain’t no place for a girl.”
“Put that man down immediately, otherwise I will have you all put under arrest!” Lisa commanded.
The men looked up at her. They had gone from laughing to pissed off in a matter of seconds.
“Did you just threaten us?” one of them snarled, advancing on her with the bowie knife. “No one threatens us!”
“Stand down now.” Lisa ordered.
“I don’t think so.” He replied, striking at her with the knife.
The man wasn’t very quick to strike, and Lisa took full advantage of that. Ducking as his knife flew over her head, she brought her arm up, breaking his elbow. The man roared in pain, and she kneed him in the stomach, grabbing his knife as he fell. Now, the other five charged her. Each one of them had a bowie knife like their comrade, but as they also had the same skill as him, and as they struck at her, she easily dodged, striking at them with her free hand and her feet. Not once did she have to use the knife, and as she made a final strike, she smiled as she watched the six men limp out of the Painted Lady.
Throwing the knife on the ground, she followed them out. She watched as they ran down the street and into a nearby alley. As the last of them was rounding the corner, he raised his middle finger at her, yelling, “Bitch!”
She smiled and watched him disappear.
“Hey!”
Lisa looked behind her. The roughed up greenhorn had come stumbling out of the saloon, and as he reached her, he gave her a big smile.
“Thanks.” He gasped. “I owe you.”
Lisa nodded and walked off. The day was still young, and she had to continue her patrolling.
