XXVII - The Fallen

The word "revolution" is often used to describe the change that has occurred, but it's an inaccurate description of what people actually experienced and how they are now living. Everything changed with the arrival of the New Order, and everyone knew it.

A soldier was talking, in some dark alley:

"We call ourselves "the fallen," because when you consider all the changes that have taken place since the beginning of this new age, it really does feel as though we've lost something essential—as if something vital was ripped away from us. But that isn't entirely true. Instead, I believe what happened was more like a sort of amputation, or like someone went in and cut off a limb without anesthesia. All these years later, I still don't know why it had to be done, but I do know that it was necessary for some reason. And despite the pain, I'm glad it did happen. If it hadn't, I wouldn't be here now." Said the gunman. He held in his hands a strange object to control women. A metal collar connected by short chains to two anklets, which had the objective of limiting the movement of the captured girls, leaving them unable to run and with their stomachs facing the ground.

Governments everywhere, slowly felt in the light of the New Order, until there is no government anywhere, not even a shadow. No army, no police ****, no public office, no court system, no bureaucracy. No laws, no taxes. And no baggy clothes for the girls.

And yet it wasn't really the end at all; Some organized themselves into autonomous groups, among them several claimed revolutionary ideas. Others just lived their lives on their own terms. The society changed, but the people did not. They were the same individuals they'd always been only with different values, different goals. Just as the government was being dismantled, so too was the old way of doing things.

"It wasn't as simple as all that, however. Even after everything was set up, there would still be those who resisted the New Order. Those who wanted to go back to the old days. Or perhaps they simply didn't want to accept the changes that had been made. In any case, they continued to fight.... Resistance girls, if captured, were trained in the harshest possible way....
