It had been months since he and his wife split, when Kyle finally took the opportunity to breathe a sigh of relief. It had taken him too long to let go and he knew it. He also knew that as soon as he did his phone's text notification would go off.

During a brief meditation technique that he relearned while researching ways to get over a narcissistic exes trauma bond that he realized was foisted upon, Kyle breathed in and out, using his diaphragm to pull the breaths deep into his being, and releasing it while he repeated the mantra "free to be me" (something of his own devising), as he let go of his most current breath in a measured count, he felt a release of tendrils(the only way be could accurately describe it) from upon his soul.

The moment he felt free, his phone's text notification went off. He ignored it. It was his ex-wife's ring. He thought of a place with no sound. Her ring again. He went deeper into the place with no sound. Then multiples pierced the veil of silence in succession. "Well fuck, it must be important if she texted five times." Notification after notification bombared his rise to the world of everyone's reality. "Fine, fine Im answering it. Jesus Horatio Christ, you psycho. Why did you need to send me 14 texts in a row." He said out loud as he stood up and retrieved his phone from across the room.
