Worry

Get outside and looking around. Seems quieter than usual but maybe it’s just me. The weather is starting to change but still pretty nice out. See Jen’s car turn into the driveway. Seems slower than usual. Walking up to car when she stops and open the passenger side door. “Morning “ I say. “Morning “ Jen says tiredly and then yawns. Get inside and close the door behind. “Tired today “ I ask as I put my seatbelt on. “Yeah those girls were a handful last night “ Jen says as she starts driving. “How bad could it have been “ I ask. “They have a lot of energy “ Jen says “especially the young one “ Jen continue saying. “But you sat for others with a lot of energy before “ I say. “Yeah but this seems different somehow “ Jen says then yawns. “How much sleep did you get last night?” I ask a little worried. “Six hours at least as I got home around 10:30pm” Jen says “that’s late for you during the week “ I say “yeah I know as usually I’m home by 9pm” Jen says before yawning. Looking at her a little worried. Wonder if she will be able to get through the day. Not to mention driving. “Why so late “ I ask “well two hours turned into 3 as the parents were late getting home and even though I got the girls into bed before the parents got home but took a half hour to keep them there “ Jen says and then yawns. Feel the car swerve a bit before she regains control. Which is unlike her. Even see her closing her eyes at times before she opens them again. Haven’t seen her this tired in a long time. “Maybe I can join you next time if you head over there “ I say. “That would help and I know they would probably listen to you “ Jen says “you think so “ I say “yeah you have a way with children “ Jen says. Which I do. Not sure what it is but children are drawn to me and listen to me.

A few minutes later we arrive at school and find a parking spot. Unbuckle the seatbelt and grab my purse bag before opening the door. Can tell Jen is taking her time as she is tired today. Get outside and close the door. Wait until Jen gets out of the car. Once she is out and she locks the car we start heading to our separation spot. She seems weighed down by her backpack today. Maybe because she is so tired. Once we get there we hug and kiss. “Try to stay awake during class “ I say “I’ll try” Jen says. “See you in math” I say as I start heading towards English class “you will “ Jen says heading to her class.
