Working Girl

Jon emerged from the back of the store, feeling a sense of purpose that always accompanied him when he helped out. He had a job to do, and he was damn well going to do it. It didn't matter that the employees had taken the day off, leaving him to fend for himself. Jon was the man for the job. He was going to make sure that this establishment ran like a well-oiled machine.

As he pulled back the curtain and surveyed the scene in front of him, Jon felt a wave of disappointment wash over him. Not a single woman in sight. Just a bunch of guys, milling about and pawing through racks of clothes. What a waste. He had been looking forward to turning some heads in his totally awesome outfit, but it looked like he was out of luck. At this rate, his vacation would be over by the time he got laid!

Jon absently twirled his curly locks as he took in the strange spectacle in front of him. Just as he'd seen on the street, about half of the men were in drag, acting like women, usually accompanied by a man in more traditional 'male clothes', like Jon. It was enough to make him feel like he was losing his grip on reality. What exactly was happening to the men of Girl World?!

But what really caught his attention was how the men were fully committing to their roles. Two tall guys in schoolgirl outfits, giggling and gossiping about pop stars. An older man in a peasant girl outfit, hanging on the arm of a younger man clad only in shorts and a t-shirt, calling him "Sire" and "M'lord". There was even a short, chubby guy in a playboy bunny costume, trying to ply everyone with drinks.

Jon pushed the oddness out of his mind and made his way to the register. He could feel the ruffled fabric of his dress brushing against his legs with every step. Once behind the counter, he grabbed a name tag that was lying there and pinned it to his dress. It read "Joan". It wasn't his name, but it didn't matter. Jon was going to make sure that these customers felt like they were in good hands.
