Woops. The back door is locked.

You peek out from behind the curtain. The tavern is lively, and quite packed. You definitely don't envy her for having to walk past all those people. Bar wenches are walking to and fro with drinks and servings, and a rowdly cardgame is going on at a nearby table.

Evellyn walks out of the curtains, going across the tavern floor with big strides, head held high, almost like she's pretending this is nothing out of the ordinary and there's nothing to see here.

The clientelle though, despite having just been treated to a trio of naked bandits, enjoys what they see, and after a few seconds Evellyn already gets hounded by whistles, cheers, and invitations to sit on people's laps. Evellyn ignores it all, going in a straight line towards the backdoor.

There’s no fun in letting the show end so soon though. You zip around the tavern, passing by the personnel looking for a keychain, which you find on the belt of the entertained-looking barmaid behind the counter. You pass by Evellyn, mid-stride close to the back door on the side of the counter, and start fidgetting with the keys. It takes you a couple tries to find the right one but eventually you do, and you securely lock the door.

You place the keychain back where you found it, and pass back over to the alcove where you and Vanessa were watching as time resumes. “Watch carefully.”

Evellyn takes the final few steps, reaches out to the handle, and..

• clunk

It doesn’t open. Evellyn screws her face up in frustration and wrenches the handle harder, with both hands, but it won’t budge.

“Oh, that’s mean. I love it.” Vanessa smirks.

Evellyn turns her back to the door, facing at the room filled with a high-end clientelle that’s far more rowdy than one might have assumed, and making way more lowbrow comments at her.

“Give that ass another twirl love!” “Stop teasing show them titties!” “Who hired the stripper?!” “Come sit on my lap honey!”

Defiantly, Evellyn begins to long march towards the front door.
