Chapter 8 by WhoDat? WhoDat?

Do you try and save the maid?

With all your might

You thrust out a hand, as though somehow you may be able to grab the lizardman before he'd be able to hit the maid. In your gut you know it's impossible, he'd already been in motion and was far faster than you as it was. But you wanted so terribly badly to stop him, to prevent him from hurting the maid who had defended you from him initially.

Then it happened, with barely any time for either you or Krelick to notice, let alone react to it, but there was a glow around the maid's neck. A shimmer like light reflecting off a bubble, transparent but noticeable.

When Krelick's claw struck it, the claw stopped abruptly, unable to move past the nearly invisible division between the reptilian student and his victim. However, momentum still had his leg pushing down, and so the **** combined with the impervious barrier required all the **** to push back upon itself. In an almost sickening crack, Krelick's clawed toe shattered, bits of it flying off to the side as it splintered apart, followed by a fresh spurt of blood.

Krelick was howling in pleasure, stumbling back until he fell onto his back, clutching his injured foot, while the barrier disappeared almost as quickly as it had arrived. You were just flabbergasted, unsure of what to think as you stood there in shock, looking between the wailing lizardman and the slowly rising plant woman.

Not getting a chance to question things on your own, a hand settled on your shoulder, making you jump further into the room. Looking back, you saw it was the maid who had been in your room before, a quizzical look on her face as she observed the room.

"What happened here?" she asked, just the slightest sense of irritation lining her words that made you feel some guilt for causing the trouble here.

The other maid that you had just barely saved rubbed her throat as she answered. "I was providing Sir Krelick with the morning service he had requested when the young lord here intruded unintentionally. I tried to deter Krelick from issuing **** upon him. When he started taking out his frustrations upon me, the young lord created a barrier that destroyed Krelick's claw."

You had to look at the maid in confusion. You did that? Sure, you wanted to defend her, but you didn't know you were responsible for it. You just thought... well, you didn't know what you thought. You'd never used magic before. Shit, if just wanting to stop someone from being violent made it work, then how come you'd never been able to defend yourself in the past? It didn't make any sense.

Despite your confusion, the first maid gave a nod of her head, the petals in her hair bouncing with the motion. "Very well then, I will take Krelick to the Duchess so she may decide how to handle him." the maid declared.

"Handle me!? I'm the victim here, it'sssss that sssstupid little bit-" Krelick roared, pointing an accusatory claw at you, only to be cut off as the maid suddenly let loose a volley of vines from her 'hair', wrapping them around Krelick's body and snout, cutting off any further word from the irate lizard.

Looking to you as she dragged him out of the room, the maid bowed her head "I apologize for the miscommunication, I do hope that we let the other guests know how they are to behave to you, sir."

You didn't have time to question it as she carried him off. It seemed odd how easily she was able to take him away with her vines considering how the other maid was being beaten around. Thinking about her, you looked to the flora woman, surprised to see she was already standing with her back straight, apparently unburdened and looking directly at you.

"Um... are you... alright?" you asked, feeling stupid almost immediately based off of what just happened to her. The question seems to surprise her as well, her eyes widening marginally before settling back into the plain look she had before.

"Of course sir, I apologize for putting you into that position. Next time I will try to be more quiet when providing morning service." she apologized, bowing her head respectfully.

"Morning... service?" you inquired. You realized that getting breakfast in bed and a change of clothes, which the other maid had even offered to help you into, was special, but apparently what Krelick was receiving was part of the norm?

Recognizing the confusion and curiosity in your voice, the floral woman looked you in the eye, making you uncomfortable with just how bright the yellow in them was compared to the dark green. "Sir, it would appear you were not explained the proper services we are to provide to you. For that I will apologize on behalf of the staff and offer to make up for it in turn, if that is what you desire."

Do you want some of the 'morning service'?
