With Dr. Aikin

Abby returns to Dr. Aikin's office later that day. Luckily the doctor stays late working and is still there when Abby knocks on the door.

"Oh, Abby. Welcome back. What did you need?"

Abby sits down across from Dr. Aikin and smiles. "Actually it's about that internship. I think I'll take it. I really like Power Theory and I think my power is pretty well suited for it."

Aikin blinks. "I'm delighted! Of course, the position is yours. But, your power? I wasn't aware you had one. What is it?"

"'Identification.' Basically I can see a name and description for any power I see in use, or any that are used directly on me."

"Really?" Dr. Aikin seems genuinely impressed. "Do you realize how useful that will be? In the criminal field alone, you would be invaluable. But for research purposes... Well, you'll be a very popular woman in our field, Abby. I'm confident of that."

Abby blushed. Was her power really that useful? She had thought it was kind of lame, but the way Aikin talked about it... She was glad she chose to follow her heart and passion.

"The only thing is, this job doesn't pay very well. The board is more concerned with producing heavy-hitter superheroes rather than on funding useful research. So until you become a research partner, you may have to find ways to cut back your expenses. Perhaps a roommate or other such living situation."

Abby nodded. She didn't care. "Of course, I'll figure something out. I'm just glad to have the opportunity to do work I really enjoy."
