You look at this attractive woman, weighing her invitation before agreeing with a smile.

"Excellent," she replies, returning your smile. "And so, 'I take thee at thy word,' Sir Capulet." For a moment you're confused, then realise she must be referring to Romeo and Juliet.

"Well, what time shall we toast our.... acquaintanceship?" you ask, rising from your chair.

"Today. At the hour of four, when all is but said and done, good sir. We will hail a carriage and retire to some hostelry in yonder village." You grin at her, amused at how theatrical she is.

"No need," you tell her. "I possess a carriage of my own. Which will suffice, I think," you say, trying to mimic her. She gives you a grin, then takes your hand and kissing the back of it before bidding you adieu and leaving the library. You watch her, puzzled, wondering why she did that. Was it just part of her playful theatricality, or did it mean something more?

Shaking your head, you gather your things and depart, leaving the building and strolling across the quad. You see clusters of girls chatting, and once again eyes gauging you, some of them flirting silently. You wonder again if Margot has been busy spreading stories, but put that thought out of your mind, telling yourself there is nothing you can do about it. At least for now.

You notice the two middle eastern girls who Valerie Cummins berated standing together, their dark eyes flickering at you, their colourful headscarves and leggings still proudly in place. You smile at them as you pass, turning your steps towards your cottage, wanting a few moments of solitude.

"Mr. Carter, please wait a moment if you please," a young voice with a pretty accent stops you, and you turn to see the two Arab girls stepping towards you.
