Why not give it a try.

As you type the commands into the computer to follow the signal your mind flows along the path. You can still sort of see the cute girl standing in the bar watching you work but everything fades out as the glowing green line of the signal pulls you along farther and farther from the bar. The landscape changes to a field of glowing energy, with icons and boxes of information here and there representing various cameras, computers, and other nodes for all sorts of technical devices, as if you were inside of the internet. As you zip along the signal you even see other people around, but where you are little more than a blob of conscience they seem to be fully formed graphic representations or constructs representing the people hacking and using the internet. "Cool I wonder how I get that?" You whisper quietly as you zip along. Before you know it you see the large block of a building that contains the signal, it is a little open area, like an old bath house with lots of thin silk curtains and pillows strewn everywhere. On every post is a little video advertising the girls and activities you can purchase at the brothel, an interactive ad for all things carnal. Behind all this debauchery you follow the signal deeper inside of the place. You go past several girls that don't seem to even notice your intrusion, you aren't sure exactly what is a person and what is a video ad for what they have, it is all very real, yet not at the same time. Suddenly a huge metal wall fills your path, but it has a tiny lock with a little screen with green letters asking for the password.

You key in a few attempts but it quickly becomes evident that you aren't getting past the wall when you suddenly hear a voice behind you, "Going in naked, are you crazy? You had better get out of here." Turning you see the redhead from the bar dressed head to toe in leather, with sexy high heels, a long wicked looking sword on her back, and a belt full of nifty looking devices. She steps up and hands the glowing blob of energy that is you a little device that looks like a phone with two wires sticking out that have alligator clips on the ends. "Here use this." She says, and the glowing blob that is you takes it, somehow. As you get the device closer to the door, you become aware of a crack around the panel. Tugging on it you expose the wires behind and clip on the device. As soon as you do it comes to life and thousands of entries are input into the wall till the correct password clicks in and the wall slides open. As it does the tiny area behind enlarges sucking you inside. The room behind the wall is covered in monitors and controls, but what commands all your attention is a huge glowing black dog with snarling teeth. It leaps at you as you enter, and the redhead girl pushes past you, drawing her sword in a blur of motion. Slashing at the beast she cuts it deep but it lurches to the side skids to a halt and begins it's attack again. She hacks another chunk out of the beast, but it has little effect. Then as the creature lunges for the third time she changes tactic and from her belt she pulls forth a huge steak and tosses it to the floor. The beast instantly stops it's attack and lunges for the meat. As it eats you can see glowing green numbers counting down on the meat, it is surreal. As the counter hits 25 she looks at you, "What are you waiting for? Do what you came here for. That will only hold it for a few more moments. I can't kill it."

Flowing forward you see the faint green thread of the bug enter a panel on the console. Flowing up to it you can see on the monitor above it a blinking dot that is your location on a map. Quickly you key into the panel and see what options you have, if any. You can see exactly what you need but you can't figure out what to do with it. Then an idea hits you, you key into the computer and bring up the maps. As you do you can't get to go away or stop transmitting but looking at the dog eating the meat you decide if you can't beat it maybe you can deceive it. Quickly you try to set your idea in motion and with a few more keystrokes you set your idea in motion. There is a second of blur then just as you were thinking the map of the city flips right to left, then back, as it does the blip indicating your position sticks to the reverse image so while it is still transmitting correctly the signal shows you are exactly the opposite location on the map to where you really are. Looking to the girl you say, "Done, lets go." She grabs your hand and with a flash everything snaps back to the bar.

Blinking you pull the plug out of your temple and see the girl in front of you doing the same to herself, she had plugged in and followed you. She smiles as you pull out the plug and says, "You are either new, brave, or stupid I am not sure which. If you are going to go exploring the net you really should buy yourself a persona, or write your own. Plus you definitely need some utility programs, you aren't good enough to write them on the fly, I could see that instantly. So what was that all about?" She asks finally with a smile.

"I really shouldn't say. You are better off not knowing, there are people after me." You aren't really sure why you don't want to tell her, but it seems like the right answer.

"Sure whatever. Your welcome by the way." She adds punching you in the arm and batting her eyes at you.

"Damn you are sexy." Is all you can think of to say. "But I really in a hurry. I can't imagine my little trick will work for all that long. I have to get this bug out of me."

"Oh, I was thinking that was what that was. I get it. So go, but here." She takes a little piece of paper and writes down her name and number and hands it to you. "Call me if you need anything. Or just for a little fun."

"Thanks." You say looking at the card. "Scarlet." The card reads along with her number. Looking back at her you add, "The name is Lexi by the way. Lovely to meet you Scarlet. Thanks again for the assist." Turning you head back for the exit, hoping you have enough time to get the prototype back, get your paycheck, and make it to one of the doctors before they realize your little deception.

As you walk out she smiles and waves, "See ya Lexi." Then as you walk out you can't help but boost your ears a bit as you hear her add, "I am so fucking that little elf slut." With a cute little giggle.
