Why not check out the town first?

You wander down the street, eyeing the spectacles on either side of the street. Nothing much to take notice of. Just old buildings, many without signs or identifying marks, anything to note what purpose they once served. You wander past them, soon reaching the center of town. Here, the town heads in four directions: The way you came; the way you're facing; and a second street that leads to your right and left. This second street appears to be the same length as the one you're traveling.

In the town square, where you're standing, age-old decorations lie around, most of them torn or broken. Confetti lay on the ground in half-decayed squares, evidence of some long-ago party.
