Why is she alone?

"Why are you alone? I mean, why do you have to raise Anna all by yourself?" I asked while looking down to the ground, avoiding her eyes.

"Well, I was young and naive. I fell in love with a rich boy who was a son of a powerful family... and..." Ms. Lin said with sadness in her eyes.

"He ditched you? Do not worry, ma'am. I will not abandon Anna. And I will tried my best to remain alive to support her." I said with confidence in my voice.

"Thanks for saying that. But no, he did not ditch me. His family did not approve of me for not coming from a rich family like them. We thought we can be together if I have his child. But the plan backfired." Ms. Lin said as tears are forming in her eyes, remembering what happened back then to her and her lover.

"He never even get to name our little girl. His parents **** him to marry a daughter of their business partner to strengthen the ties between their families..." Ms. Lin said as tears are starting to come down from her eyes, feeling again the sorrow of being forcibly separated from the man she loved.

"They even... hired some thugs to get rid of me and Anna. She wasn't even born at that time!" Ms. Lin said as tears are streaming down from her eyes.

"Upon learning of this, my lover struck a deal with his parents. He told them that if they left me and Anna alone and have me shipped away to somewhere else with some money to start over, he will do everything they said!" Ms. Lin said

As she is crying for remembering what she went through, I decided to make a move to comfort her.

"Don't worry, Ms. Lin. I am here. I will do anything for both you and Anna. I will make both of you happy." I said while also hugging her.

"So... would you rather forget what you went through or restart your life as mother all over again?" i asked her back.
