Why does Harley want to help?

Pam's P.O.V

Harley looks at me stunned by the question I just asked her. As she tries to gather her thoughts I quickly pull my phone out and secretly speed dial Bruce Wayne and put it on speakerphone and ask Harley the question again so Bruce could hear what's going on.

"Harley, why do want to help us? Like I said earlier, we would be grateful for your help and as I stated your background as a psychiatrist might come in handy when the time comes. But, what is the real reason you want to help us?"

"To be honest Red, I'm tired!!! I'm tired of the criminal life. I'm tired of always being on the losing end of things. I'm tired of getting beaten up. I'm tired of always ending up either in the hospital or Arkham. I mean when The Joker and I got together and started our criminal lives together everything was fun and exciting. Even the sex we had after a successful job we pulled was over the top!! Now, years later Joker and I barely talk to each other. Our sex life is almost nonexistent, and when shit hits the fan, I'm usually the one left holding the bag!! I think this opportunity is a chance for me to have a somewhat normal life again. I mean, I realize that I'll never will be able to go back to being the naive psychiatrist that I once was before the Joker came along, but maybe this opportunity can give me a sense of a normal life!".

Suddenly a disembodied voice seemingly comes out of nowhere startling Harley Quinn.

"Very well spoken Dr. Quinzel. If you are being as truthful as I believe you are, then I would be truly happy to offer you a job at WayneTech Medical Research Labs. Welcome aboard Dr. Harleen Quinzel. I will have security ready for when you get here. That way they can get your security badge and I.D.'s ready to go. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you Dr. Quinzel!!".

"Oh my goodness!!! Mr. Wayne, Thank You!! I appreciate this opportunity to help with this cause to find a cure. I hope this opportunity will maybe, finally help me get my life back!".

"You are Welcome Dr. Quinzel!!! But, as you are probably are aware in order for you to work for us there's going to be some stipulations for you. Right now, I have two stipulations for you, though we may add more later. One being that as of right now all your time will go to what you owe for community service, after that is taken care of, you will start receiving a paycheck from me. The second stipulation is that when you go out in public you are to have a chaperone to help keep you out of trouble. Dr. Isley, I'll leave the chaperone decision up to you!".

"I guess I can agree to that Mr. Wayne. But, I will need somewhere to stay while I'm helping. Preferably nearby, that way I can try to stay out of as much trouble as possible. Also, can you please call me Dr. Harley Quinn, or call me Dr. Quinn. Calling me Dr. Quinzel makes me think my mother is here with me."

"I will see what I can do to find living arrangements for you. As for your request, that won't be a problem Dr. Quinn.".

"Thank you again Mr. Wayne for everything!".

"No problem, Dr. Quinn! Before I forget Dr. Isley do you have a chaperone in mind for Dr. Quinn?".

"Yes, Bruce! I have the perfect person in mind for that job! I think they might even enjoy doing it for us!".

"Haha!! If it's who I think it is, you're probably right Dr. Isley. If there isn't anything else that needs to be discussed, then I'll see you when you two get here.".

"Bye, Bruce.".

I end the call on my cell phone. I look over at Harley and see she is sort of mean mugging me.

"What's wrong Peanut?".

In a huff Harley answers me.

"You could've of warned me that you were going to do that!! I could've been better prepared!!".

"Honestly, Sweet Pea! If I told you that I was going to do that you probably would of given us the answer you thought we would want to hear. Not the real and truthful answer that you gave us."

"I guess you are right Pammy! But, still it was a dirty trick!! But, I guess it worked out in the end. I've got a job, and hopefully a place to stay.

Harley's P.O.V.

Pam and I talked about other things for a few more minutes after the call with Bruce Wayne. I eventually zoned out listening to the music on the radio. I ended up getting lost in my own thoughts. I knew that this was more than likely my last chance to make good on one more chance to turn my life around.

I was so zoned out that I didn't hear Red tell me that we were nearly back to the lab.

"HARLEY!!! DID YOU HEAR ME?".

"I'm sorry Daffodil!! I didn't hear you. I was lost in my own thoughts. What did you say?".

"It's okay Peanut!! I was just telling you we are here!".

I quickly look out the window to see we were pulling into the parking lot of WayneTech Medical Research Labs. In the parking lot I see row after row of boring ass Tesla's in front of me. Maybe, I made a hasty decision if I have to work with all these stick in the mud professionals. But, just as I was about to give up hope I see it. It being a beautiful heavily modified classic Pontiac GTO. I'm instantly drawn to it. This has to be Bruce Wayne's car. So I decided to ask Red the owner was.

"Red, does that beautiful Pontiac GTO belong to Mr. Wayne?".

"No Harls, it belongs to one of the scientists here named Dr. Samuel Steele. Why do you ask Peanut?".

"Its a beautiful car!! I'm just glad to see someone else besides you has good taste in cars!! I think I might ask him if he can give me a ride in that monster one day. I can't wait to meet Dr. Steele!!".

"Harley!! I must warn you about Dr. Steele! He's not a small man. He's.....".

"What are you saying Pammy!! Is Mistah S. 'FAT'?".

"NO, NO, NO, NO!!! Quite the contrary. He's not fat, far from it! In fact, How do I put this in a way you might understand? Oh, I know!! Harley what's that series on Amazon Prime that you like to watch behind Joker's back. The one with the former Major in the military that travels around because he can't stay in one place for any length of time. It's the one where no matter where he goes trouble seems to find him.

The one where he solves most of the problems using his brains and brawn, and the help of the girl that served with him. It stars that guy that if the Joker knew you secretly thought he was handsome hunk of man meat, that he would more than likely kill him. You know that series.".

"Red, are you talking about Reacher? Also, what does Reacher have to do with Mistah S.?"

"Well, Harls! Imagine Reacher being four inches taller, Native American, and Piercing Yellow Eyes and a helluva lot more muscular, and definitely more handsome than Reacher and you've got Dr. Steele.".

"DAMN, Red!!! It sounds like you've got the HOTS for him! But, now that you gave me a description of him, I can't wait to meet him!!".

"I'm not going to lie to you Peanut. We dated for a short while. Neither one of us saw the relationship going anywhere, so we mutually called it off. But, we became really good friends from it.".

"I'm sad that to hear that it didn't work out for you Pammy! Because, you deserve to find someone who makes you happy! But, I'm glad that the two of you were able to remain friends and are able to work together without any complications from it.".

"Me too Peanut!! Me too!!".

I'm glad Pammy didn't notice that I was squirming in my seat while she was describing Mistah S. Because if she did, I think she would of realized that her description of him was causing my pussy to absolutely drench my panties. Thank goodness my leather pants didn't show how soaked I was. Because that would have definitely been embarrassing to explain to everyone.

A few minutes later Pam parked her car and we got out and went inside the building. Of course the first stop was at security so they could get my picture taken for my I.D. and badges. Then we went into the labs. As we entered the lab I saw Bruce Wayne with a bunch of scientists huddled around him. I guess they were talking about any progress they've made so far.. As we approached them everyone went silent, and turned to face Pam and I.

Of course Pam introduced me to Mr. Wayne and the rest of the scientists that were standing around him.

That's when I noticed that there was one scientist off to the right sitting with his back facing us, doing something in his own department inside the lab. That's when Red called out for him to come join us and to meet me.

"HEY, STEELE!! IF YOUR NOT EXTREMELY BUSY REVIEWING THE RESULTS OF THE LAST TEST BATCH, COULD YOU COME HERE. I'VE GOT SOMEONE I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET!!".

That's when I hear a deep gravelly, bassy voice respond to her request.

"Sure thing Dr. Isley!! Give me a sec to let me just finish inputting my findings into the computer. There done! Be there in a moment".

A few seconds later that person stood up and turned around and looked over at me with those deep piercing yellow eyes. And when our eyes met. O.M.G.!!!!
