Why are there royals?

"Why are there royals?" you ask.

"What do you mean, there have always been royals." Prince Eric looked confused, "Do you mean like why are there ones here and not in other countries?" he asks.

"I guess?" you ask, hesitantly.

"Do you really know nothing?" he asks and you snap at him.

"I know shit," you say getting defensive.

"I'm sorry, that was rude," he says, rather pathetically. Maybe you should've given him a little more backbone. Or not, he did seem like a total prick before you.

"Okay well, I don't know where to start. Umm well the USA is ruled by King Sebastian, my father. His husband is..." he pauses... "Well that wont make sense unless I start..." He is thinking.

"Alright, so in a royal bloodline, due to a birth defect, men can only give birth one time. Over time, the royal family rebranded the defect into a divine gift. Anyway, as a result, having 1-2 kids for royals was quite common.

"But aren't you the third son," you say, "How is that possible?"

"So, that's a long story. King Claude of the northern territories married one of my fathers, King Sebastian, King of the Unified Ameria continent."

"You mean America?" you say and Prince Eric looks at you strangely.

"Unified Settlements of Ameria, USA," he says, "Anyway King Sebastian gave birth to my eldest half-brother Prince Francis and King Claude gave birth to my half-brother, second eldest Prince Jonah."

"Why are you half brothers?" you ask.

"Well, King Claude died a couple of years ago and in a show of good faith to the Northern Territories, he remarried the second son and new king, King Harrison. King Harrison then fathered me."

"So are you going to be king of the USA or Northern Territories?" you ask.

"Likely neither, it seems," he says rather glumly. "Prince Francis is first in line for the throne of USA and Prince Jonah is line for the throne of Northern Territories."
