What's next?
Who has two thumbs and got a date for Friday?
Arron had managed to not make a total fool of himself as he left Michael's house, having dropped off a small container's worth of food for him to eat (as well as making small additional containers that he could put in the fridge and heat up when he was hungry) though he hadn't been able to stay since the officer was still groggy from the pain killers he was taking. It had been a welcome surprise to see Greta there, she simply smiled and assured her that she would pass along his greetings to him, and after spending some time catching up on her son's condition, Arron left with a promise to be back in a few days.
The drive back home was a bit odd still, he hadn't expected to go out of his way to cook for Michael so suddenly but now that he had, there was something about just the fact he cooked for another person that made him feel a bit warm, a bit happy, and somewhat accomplished. He made dinner for Sarah but that his daughter, he was supposed to. Cooking for someone else was a treat, he only wished he could've seen the man's reaction to his food. Call it cliche but the best response was the comments made by the target audience of the food.
He returned to his house to find it emptier than he was accustomed to as Sarah, with her injuries, had decided to call up her aunt Marjorie who had flown in yesterday night and, without taking a "no" for an answer, took her back with her to help treat and make better. He appreciated it as much as he could, considering he was still working and dressing as a woman in public, but it still didn't help that he was now alone for a few weeks until she was better and could do things on her own again.
Arron was about to set forth cleaning up the kitchen when he got a text from William, though how the man got his number was a bit confusing until he remembered that he had given it to him at the coffee store. Had that only been 2 days?
HEY...
He sighed and placed the pan down before he turned to his phone. Hey, how are you doing?
SORRY, I GOT YOUR NUMBER, WASN'T SURE IF OKAY TO TEXT OR CALL INSTEAD...
_Don't be, just a bit surprised. _He wiped his hands on the kitchen towel and leaned against the stove. What's up?
DEREK IS OUT OF TOWN FOR A CONFERENCE. WONDERED IF YOU HAD PLANS FOR DINNER?
_No..._he responded before he realized that this was a not-so-subtle invitation for a date...a dinner date...with a man. It didn't help matters that the last time he met this man, they had swapped more than just numbers. No, no plans. Was just going to cook something here and take it easy...
The response was a bit delayed and he was about to text him again when William sent a reply, all but confirming what he thought. IF YOU ARE FREE, AND IT IS NOT TOO FORWARD OF ME, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU OUT TO DINNER?
As if Arron would put himself in that position, he immediately replied with a simple That's okay, not tonight... and then followed up with I'm free Friday, though, how about then? He was about to throw his phone into the disposal after reading what he wrote when William responded simply with SURE, IT'S A DATE!
"Goddamn, I need to get drunk tonight..."
