After completing college, the pretty 21-year old redhead had worked for almost a year at a small regional European carrier, but her cheery disposition and exemplary work record did not help her when she and other low-seniority staff were laid off to cut costs. **** to avoid a lateral move into waitressing, Caitlyn agreed to take the only job offer that came her way, an entry-level position at a glorified charter company posing at the flag carrier for the ramshackle Caribbean island nation of Santalina.

Caitlyn allowed herself a sigh of relief when she saw the planes: they looked modern and well-maintained.
