Aaron opened the back door of the car, and Keri-Lynn climbed in. Waiting inside was Megan Cassidy, Lionel's assistant.

"Good morning, Keri-Lynn," Megan greeted her in her Irish accent. "Ready for Calhoun?"

Keri-Lynn smiled weakly. "I reckon so. Are you coming to?"

Megan nodded. "Lionel wanted me to be with you to make sure you had everything you needed."

"And to babysit me?" Keri-Lynn interjected. "I don't need your help. Heck, I'm probably older than you."

"By four months," Megan confirmed with a smile. "Listen, I want you to relax, try and have a good time. This is going to be good for your career."

"Oh yeah, getting grinded on by some black men?" Keri-Lynn replied with a snort. "This is a terrible idea. You think a bunch of urban kids are gonna buy my records if I'm seen with the blacks? All it's gonna do is hurt my existing fanbase."

Megan fixed her with a glare. "Your fanbase, such as it is, comes from us. We say you need to diversify, so you need to." Then Megan gave her a smile. "Now, no more of this talk. You sound too much like your father."

Keri-Lynn shot her a dirty look but said nothing further.
