As they walked through the old Slavers Quarter, Emmet and Shannon Maloney were bickering for the first time on their honeymoon. Maybe it had been too much sun, too much pollution or too many pushy and/or needy Africans, but Shannon Maloney was begging that they call it a day and return to the resort.

"Shannon, you didn't want to come to Africa, but now we're here, and it's amazing," Emmet lectured as he moved through the crowds. "Now we agreed that today we'd do the town, see the way the real people live..."

"They're poor, I get it," Shannon snapped as she struggled to keep up. "And the men are always leering at me." She evaded a hand reaching for her breast.

"...and we agreed to do some culture," Emmet continued. "There's a native mask dance I'd like to see at the theatre pit after dark falls."

"After dark falls!" Shannon repeated in exasperation. "After dark falls these negros are going to be gangbanging me!"

"Shannon!" Emmet gasped, stopping and shooting her an accusing glare. "How dare you talk like that? These people are our equals, victimized by the global economy and the legacy of colonialism..."

"Listen, Bono, you can stay here and fall in love with them if you want to," Shannon seethed. "But I'm going to the resort now, and tomorrow I'm going to catch a flight back to Dublin."

Emmet stared at her in spiteful silence, but his attention was drawn by a camera crew. Two pretty white women stood talking near a local camera crew, while looking on in boredom was...

"Omar Dugunda!" Emmet exclaimed, a smile cracking his face.

"What?!" his bewildered wife shot back as Emmet walked past her and towards the crew.

"Omar Dugunda, he's one of the top Africans playing football today! Wow, I can't believe it's him!" Shannon watched in disbelief as her husband abandoned her to stare at some football player. Had she made a big mistake?
