When did it land? (AU)

Once upon a time, there was a great kingdom.

That kingdom was ruled by a wise and fair king named Ozma; who ruled beside his ruthless and cunning queen named Salem. They were from a time when the Gods of Light and Dark lived beside humanity and all men and women were gifted the great power of magic. That time had passed and due to the greed of mankind, we were stripped of our power and left to fend for ourselves in a world of monsters.

Only Salem, cursed by the gods with immortality and a form that resembled the Grimm; alongside her husband, **** to possess the bodies of men to continue his life remained with the powers blessed to them.

In time, they built a magnificent kingdom and ruled over their subjects as gods. They wrote laws, gave rights, freed the captive Faunus, and made sure every subject was well fed and safe from the Creatures of Grimm. Salem bore four daughters: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. But the family started to crack.

Salem wanted to expand her power, declaring war on anyone who resisted her rule. Eventually their daughters revealed that they too possessed the power of magic. Salem wished to destroy the weakened humanity and Faunus and replace them with their own descendants.

But Ozma was wary of the plan, he wanted to guide humanity back to regain the Gods' favor. So in the middle of the night he tried to sneak his daughters away to where she could never find them. But he was discovered, and the enraged queen attacked her king.

The battle was ferocious, the sky lit up with the light of their magic as the two eternal lovers clashed for the fates of their daughters. But before Salem could win, Ozma imprisoned his wife in a mysterious relic, gifted by an ancient goddess.

The Lantern of Ardor. A powerful relic said to be gifted by the Goddess of the Tree of Ever After. It bound Salem to the Lantern, turning her into a being of power and lust. All the power in the universe was in the palms of her hands, but only was able to use it for acts of passion.

Ozma; fearing that somehow she would wreck havoc, cast his wife into the sea. Where she remained trapped in the lantern enthralled in acts of carnal desire. He allowed his kingdom to crumble into history and chose to guide mankind from the shadows. Fearing that his descendants could cause great harm, he cast a powerful spell limiting the strength of magic on Remnant.

His daughters grew up; and married men of great wealth, intelligence, strength, and charm. Their children, and their children's children held the same powers their family had. When they passed, they girted their magic to random women, becoming the Maidens of lore. Only these four women can wield the full power once blessed by the Gods.

To this day there are men and women who possess the magic of Ozma and Salem. Born often into noble houses and wealthy families; they use their powers to fight back against the darkness, bringing prosperity to their subjects, and ensuring that when the time comes for the Brothers' return; humanity will be ready for its Judgment.

That's how the story goes. In Remnant, fairy-tales have little kernels of truth in them. But truths can be just as strange as the stories we write down. This tale fails to mention how sometimes the nobles would be harsh and need to be exiled or worse yet, killed. It fails to mention the Acolytes, silver eyed warriors blessed to strike down the Grimm with a glance. It doesn't even mention Aura or Semblances, the power of the soul that gifted people with wondrous abilities that rivaled even magic.

But most importantly, It fails to mention that no matter how deep into the ocean you throw something; eventually, it will come back up and find itself washed up on a beach. Waiting to be unleash the powers of lust.
