Is it time for you to abandon the sled?
What you need is a way to brake
"I hear what you're saying..."
Pearl reads into your pause. "But."
"But it's my first sled ride," you say, frustrated. "It's like giving up the lottery."
Pearl sulks. "A lot of lottery winners end up miserable or dead," she points out. "Read up on it sometime. It's depressing as hell."
"And a few don't," you argue.
"Yeah, well, those people usually already had some money to start with, like as a business owner. Or they were financial geniuses," she counters. "Or, they just went about life as before, pretending they didn't have 350 million dollars sitting in the bank and never telling anyone about it."
You point at your beautiful face. "Then, that'll be me, Pearl."
Pearl rolls her eyes. "Excuse me if I'm the me of little faith."
You have an idea. "How about this? You say I'm on the sled, going downhill. Well, what if the sled had brakes?"
"Sled brakes?" asks Pearl, quizzically.
"You've never seen the sleds with the brakes on them?" you ask.
She shakes her head.
"They're a real thing that exists," you promise. "I just need to get me some."
She looks highly doubtful. "You can bulldoze any wall in your way with a couple poorly chosen words," says Pearl. "How's braking supposed to work for that runaway cement truck?"
