What the Cluck?

"Sorry to call you back," Jubilee said. "He suddenly insisted on seeing you and making a fuss."

Walt smiled and shook his head as he knelt down to pat Shogos head. "It's not a problem, Jubes. We mostly got the basics set-up. How you doing, Shogo?" He focused his attention on Shogo who was acting upset which was rather unusual. "Something wrong, Little Man?"

Shogo nodded and grabbed onto him tightly. "Go home..." he said.

That made Walt blinked and trade glances with Jubilee who shrugged and sighed. "We are home, Sho."

Shogo shook his head, burying into Walter's shoulder as he gripped him even tighter. "Dada... Go home," he insisted.

"Sho, honey...," Jubilee said sighing as Shogo used the most powerful manipulation in his arsenal... and it was super effective as she could tell he scored a critical hit on Walter judging by his dopey grin. "This is home now. You were happy before."

"No," Shogo said adamantly and shook his head some more while hugging Walter. "Go home!"

Walt cleared his throat. Jubilee was right. Shogo was happy before but he was borderline "unhappy" now. He could feel the tension in his little body and picked him up to hold him. "Okay. You're clearly upset. You want to tell Dada why? If it's a good reason we'll go."

Shogos head came up to look him in the eyes with serious intensity. "Dadah Wahwah Praw-miss?" He asked hopefully.

Walt resisted the urge to chuckle as Jubilee rolled her eyes, smiling but nodded and said, "I promise to hear you out and consider it, Partner. Will you promise to listen to my judgement?"

Shogo nodded seriously. "I praw-miss!"

Walt smiled. "Okay. So why go home?" He asked. He really did want to know. Shogo had been good and had seemed happy and excited to see his new home... but maybe he missed the X-Mansion or Logan or-

"Ch... Chi-chis!" Shogo said plaintively.

Walter blinked, stunned. Jubilee did too before her jaw dropped and she almost lost her chewing gum. "The chickens? That's what this is all about?!"

Shogo nodded looking imploringly at Walt. "Chi-chis! Feed chi-chis!"

Jubilee shook her head. "No. Uncle Logan and others are feeding them and it's unreasonable to ask Walter to take you there to feed them everyday, sweetie-"

"But chi-chis hungy!" Shogo said with passion as if determined that the chickens were starving in his absence.

Walt chuckled and nodded, grinning. "Fair points. Alright kiddo. Your mama's right," he said seeing the kids lower lip tremble as if he was gonna cry. "So... I guess we'll bring Chi-chis home here! You'll have to feed them everyday."

"Chi-chis!" Shogo cried happily, hugging him. "Dadah!"

Jubilee crossed her arms but smiled at them. "You're such a softie, "Dadah". You're going to spoil him."

Walt set Shogo down. "It'll take a day or two but we'll get chi-chis. You better go tell everyone."

Shogo nodded and toddled off to go tell the others excitedly all about chi-chis. Walt shrugged. "It's good for him to feel and be responsible for living things. A few chickens are no big deal."

She put her arm around Walt as they watched him telling Penny excitedly about the chickens. "First the cat, now this. Are you really going to go back just to get the chickens?"

Walt shook his head. "No. Those are for Krakoa... but that doesn't mean we can't have our own here... and I just so happen to know of a place that got some recently that need a home. Friday, can you check with Rein Corp on the status of the radioactive chickens they rescued from that trash world? If they need a home, tell them we'll take the whole lot off their hands on Monday when they open."

(("Understood Boss. Checking... They're still available in their database so I'm placing the order now."))

"Thanks, Friday." He smiled. "Hear that? All good."

Jubilee raised an eyebrow. "Those weren't the ones that were 20 stories tall? Don't tell me they breath fire too!"

Walt shook his head. "Nah. There was only one big one and they shrunk him back down to size. The rest were an odd lot from different franchises and all went through decontamination." He paused to hum thoughtfully. "I think some might have been from a Legend of Zelda instance or two though so we should be careful not to antagonize them too much. Some LoZ Chickens ain't to be triffled with lightly."

Jubilee kissed him on the cheek. "Well I still think you're a big softie. You're gonna lose your hard ass reputation..." she gave him a wink. "But I will admit it's kinda sweet so you can just be "hard on" me instead later to makeup for it, "Daddy"."

Walt swallowed... hard. "Boy howdy... It's a deal!"

"Did you tell him?" Penny asked joining them as Shogo now informed Neo of the good news excitedly.

"Tell me what?" Walt asked.

Jubilee grinned taking his arm. "We were just getting to that! Do you want to?"

Penny nodded taking his other arm. "Harley already dragged Dave off, yes? So... we were thinking it was your turn after dinner!"

Walt chuckled. "Well I suppose thats fine. Just you two?"

Jubilee grinned at Neo who nodded and began texting the others it was "go time".

"Not quite," Penny said all smiles as a familiar crowd started heading their way, many with knowing smiles after checking their phones. "Think you can indulge several more?"

"Oh," Walt said swallowing but nodding. "Boy howdy... I'll certainly give it my best!"
