What else she’s hiding
I turn my head toward the guy who said it — the muscular one, shirt still off, leaning against the wall with that lazy grin. I raise the bottle to my lips and take a slow sip, holding his gaze.
"You're not wrong," I say, my voice dropping low. "I've been quiet my whole life. Always trying to be perfect. Always making myself small so people would like me."
I set the bottle down on the armrest and walk toward him, my boots clicking against the hardwood. The pasties catch the lamplight, the fringe swaying with each step. I stop close enough to feel the heat radiating off his bare chest.
"But you know what? Perfect is boring." I reach up and press my palm flat against his chest, feeling his heartbeat under my fingertips. "I've been saving this side of me for the right moment. And I think this is it."
I look over my shoulder at the bachelor, still on the couch, still watching. Then at the dark-haired one, leaning against the sectional. Finally, at Joe, out cold on the floor.
"Who knew the quiet girlfriend had a slut in her, right?" I murmur, turning back to the muscular guy. "Makes you wonder what else she's hiding."
