What about Carla?

"Of course!" I nodded at Kaila, unsure of why she had chosen that exact moment to bring it up.

"So... if I told you that she wanted a mulligan on the rule too, would you be ok with it?" Kaila spread her hands in a questioning expression.

"Which rule are we talking about?" I questioned, looking around for an unoccupied seat. There were several near the table, and I chose one that sat opposite the door. I settled in easily, observing Kaila as she seemed to struggle with her choice of words.

"About the dibs thing." Kaila spoke quieter, her eyes on Charlotte. Charlotte for her part, merely raised her eyebrows at my wife in an obvious "Go on" expression. "Brent... I really feel like shit about this now."

I waited patiently as Kaila seemed to find some kind of strength from Charlotte's gaze.

"I swapped out with Carla a couple days ago." She said simply, before taking a deep breath and letting out a short, sharp exhale. "I kept... well I was..."

I was momentarily taken aback by the the thought, trying to think when it would have happened. My mind raced as Kaila seemed to be trying to determine what to say.

"Good start." Charlotte spoke up suddenly. "Oooh boy, Now nobody starts throwing chairs, and I don't break out the fight bell, right?"

"Right... no Jerry..." I placed my hand on the the table, and let my finger trace along one of the long wooden grains. Take a breath. Ok, this is... wow. Carla. I'd always wanted Carla, but Kaila had been so adamant that I not even suggest looking at her sister funny that I'd tried to banish the thought to the far corner of my mind. Now knowing that I'd been with her, without even knowing was running through my head, and my mind began flashing to nearly every time I'd been with Kaila. "I don't even know where to start with this though."

"I know. It's why I didn't tell you." Kaila explained. "We didn't tell you I mean. I... I hate most of your shows."

Where the hell had That come from? Ok, she hates my shows, that seems pretty basic.

"So, that's why you switched with Carla?" I asked incredulously. What kind of a reason was that to lie to me?

"Please tell me you've got popcorn." Nikki joked while miming placing kernels into her mouth. "Wow... I am so glad I decided to skip de bachelorette party. Greased Strippers and dick jokes have got Nuttin on dis."

"How did we get a..." Kaila glanced at Nikki with a smile. "Ok, uh yeah, I really, really hate Hogan's Heroes. I can't stand the sets they use. You were so happy when you got that DVD, and I really didn't want to sit through it. I saw this... I had this boyfriend who was into seventies exploitation films a while back, and I sat through so many."

"That's a terrible reason to lie to me, you know." I pointed out.

"Well, you said you didn't want to know about my exes!" Kaila argued back. "So, Carla didn't see the flick she thought the guy was skeevy, and she was right, because he kept making jokes about inviting her down to watch with us."

"Gotta ask, what was the film?" Helen spoke up brightly. "Had to be terrible."

"Ilsa, She-wolf of the SS." Kaila shook her head rapidly. "So, every time those buildings came onscreen, I just... I think I got through two episodes the first night with you looking at em, and I just had to call it quits. But... you were so happy about it..."

"Sorry, I didn't notice." I confessed. I sometimes had a habit of tuning out a bit when I enjoyed something, and apparently it had been one of those times.

"Yeah, so the next night, when you asked me to watch with you, I said yes and swapped out with Carla like we usually do with people when one of us can't handle it."

"Almost there, Kay, you forgot somethin'." Charlotte chided her gently.

"Right... and I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. I should have told you." Kaila nodded. "But yeah, I Swapped with Carla, and she watched it with you. Then you came up, and she'd go into her room where I'd been hanging out and I'd go to bed with you."

"But... a couple nights ago, Carla and I did a heck of a lot more than just watch a movie." I felt a slight chill run through me as I contemplated what Carla and I had done in bed. "A LOT more."

"Uhm... happy anniversary?" Kaila tried with a nervous smile. "I uh... that was our plan, it just... somehow got bigger, and bigger, and I just... Yeah."

"I... don't know what to say here. This is... " I wasn't sure what to think, honestly. My brain was contemplating every little moment I'd spent with Kaila, remembering cuddling with her on the couch and making dumb John Banner jokes. It had been Carla. Every time.

"I know! Seriously! I've been trying to figure out how to tell you this since our first honeymoon, when... you're gonna hate me." Kaila cut off her statement with a wince.

"He's not gonna hate you." Charlotte reassured her. "I mean, maybe... but he's in a good enough mood it might just cancel out."
