Chapter 128 by robyna robyna

Who did he call?

Wendy (first date)

He'd met Wendy that first day on the bus and he'd been flirting with her since then but he hadn't actually done {if wendydance=false}anything{else}much{endif} about it. She'd given him her number, even if, admittedly, that had been about Trig and Algebra rather than dating, so he looked her up and punched dial.

"Oh, hi Matt."

"Hey Wendy. What's up?"

"Working on homework, as always. I'm still struggling with Algebra."

"Yeah, and it's tough to keep up in summer school. Everything comes so fast and since classes are twice as long, there's twice as much to absorb."

"Did you want to talk about Trig?"

"Actually, I wanted to talk about your plans for this evening."

"Plans?"

"Like if you'd like to get together and hang out or something."

"Are you..." her voice squeaked. "Are you asking me on a date?"

"First guess too. Who says you're not smart."

"You'd better not be the one who said I wasn't. I just have trouble in math."

"I don't have a car but I could meet you at the deli. That's a nice public place so your mom wouldn't have to worry about the poor kid messing with you."

"Oh, shut up. She's protective, not mean."

"Sure. You up for it? I mean, I know it's a school night and--"

"Don't go backing out on me now. Sure. I have to eat dinner with my family first, my dad isn't here that often but supposedly he will be tonight. I could meet you there at around eight. No, wait. I have a better idea. How about if I pick you up. That would give us a few more minutes together and you wouldn't have to walk."

"Perfect. See you at eight."

All good to eight o'clock?
