Well, it stays civil

The four of you silently go back to the fast food restaurant and Emma insisted to pay for the food this time. The girl behind the counter seems surprised but happy that you came back. However, she didn't notice the girl behind you is your girlfriend and when she tried to flirt with you again, a very angry Jenny with crossed arms and a deadly look on the face sends you to wait with Marvin at a table. He has still some red spots in the face where the hot food hit him. You don't talk to each other and just look at the table embarrassed. Sammy and Alric are also there but they just sit at the bench and move not a muscle like two dolls. Everybody would likely believe they are just toys from a kids menu. Finally, Emma and Jenny come back with the food.

“Well, I guess we should start with introducing each other properly,” Emma says while giving everybody his ordered food, “I'm Emma Ironstar, my partner here is Marvin Bishop. We are friends of Jenny and pack members for more then two decades now.”

“Nice to meet you,” you say friendly and offer the two your hand which they gladly accept, “I'm Max. Jenny's boyfriend since elementary school and currently a technonolgy student at college. I'm just a normal human. And while I assume you already know Sammy, this guy at my side is Alric. I saved him and he swore an oath to me.”

“Oh, that's great,” Emma says fascinated, “a fairy oath is extremely rare and lasts forever. I must say I'm a little jealous.”

“No need to be,” you say a little nervous, “and … I'm sorry if this is too personal, but I'm not very experienced when it comes to werewolves. But you said you are partners. Does this mean you are a couple? Or married or something”

“Engaged,” Marvin says and sounds a little proud, “we have been partners for several years now. And on the pack meeting we wanted to tell everybody that I proposed to her.”

“Took you long enough,” Emma says smiling takes Marvin's hand in hers, “for werewolfes, partners are people who know the other persons side and decide to be with them. There can be romantic feelings, like in our case or in your case, but this is not necessary. In the pack there are two guys, who are also partners too. But they are just very good friends. Still, a werewolf with a non-werewolf partner is not the norm. Most werewolves are either alone or live with other pack members. I think, Eric, Jenny, Duncan and Elizabeth are the only ones with human partners. And … Lilly has a gorgon partner. She likes it exotic I guess. However, I have Marvin and I love him.”

“Congratulations,” Jenny says exited, and hugs her old friend over the table, “I know you will be great together. Well, do you know anything about what will happen at the pack meeting? We had some encounters with vampires lately and Acaria told us we are not the only ones.”

“Yes, we know,” Marvin mumbles serious, “rumor is, something is happening in the magic world. The vampires are on the warpath and the Neo Inquisition are arming themselves. I don't know why, but it will escalate soon enough. So far, the mages are still neutral, but renegade werewolves have been sighted again and again lately. I sincerely hope that the coming events will pass us by. But I think we should always prepare for problems.”

“Even our kind is worried,” Sammy suddenly speaks up, “our great hope is that we can stay out. The fairy council ordered us to stay out of other groups business. I hope Acaria can give us some new information. I have some contacts to the fairy council and they can need every information they get.”

“Well, come on,” Emma says after a moment of silence, “the pack meetings are too rare for grief. I want to spend a happy time with the only true friend I have. Let's talk about something else and leave the politics to Acaria and Eric. Max, our little wolf here tells us often about you. Please tell me about yourself and your relationship!”

“Yes, honey,” Jenny agrees and her look threatens you a little, “tell them about us. And be careful with your next words. I haven't forgotten about this slut at the cash register.”
