Well, he could use the extra help!

Leonard typed in the name of his boss, Ross McKenzie, and his image pulled up. It was surprisingly accurate, with the exact same outfit he was wearing today. This felt like it had to be a prank, so he didn't want to use him as the first subject. Then he typed in the name of the office jerk and bully, Doug Grant. The 40 something year old was still a body builder and loved to show off. Leonard thought of how hard he could punch if Doug found out he was being messed with. After deleting that name, he thought long and hard. His mind wandered to a woman at the office, one of the data entry workers that had been there almost as long as him. She was a few years younger than him, and had a similar nerdy charm to her.

There were plenty of times he wish he had the courage to ask her out. As she was more tech savvy than the rest of the office, she rarely asked him for assistance, but whenever they could share a moment it was always a positive interaction. Leonard still didn't believe this app was real, but figured she may be someone that would be more understanding if something went awry. He typed in her name, 'Jackie Nunez' and up came the fairly plump woman onto his screen.

Today she had on a pair of jeans, a nice green blouse with with grey cardigan. Recently she dyed her hair red, and it went well with her pale skin. The image on screen was static, and he hit enter to submit her as a test subject. He gulped as a new screen appeared, it had her name, her image, and her 'Role' set as Data Entry. Leonard was fascinated by it, that was the only role she was viewed as? Maybe it was all just in the context of the office? Well, he had the ability to change it now. He tapped the box and entered. 'IT Specialist' just as he was. He gulped, and hit enter.

After a few minutes he looked around, nothing changed. The image of Jackie was still on screen, with her name. She looked entirely the same. In fact aside from the role change in the app nothing about her was different.

"Oh, this has to be some kind of HR app the company has, must have been sent by mistake. What a weird joke from Research and Development if that's the case. Martin sighed, but didn't realize a change had occurred in the office.

Back on the office floor, Jackie sat at her computer typing away some reports, until something changed for her. She was wondering why she was sitting at this desk, she wasn't usually on the floor like this. She got up, the desk she formerly owned was now emptied, with her personal belongings now in the IT room alongside Martin's and the others. She now knew the rest of her group took the day off, and Martin was the only other IT worker. She made her way to the server room to see if he needed any assistance. Upon opening the server room with her key card she saw Martin a little flushed.

"Heya Marty, you okay? Don't tell me the pressure is getting to you, cmon we've had busier days!" She chuckled.

Martin was very confused, she came into this area, something that should be off limits to her.

"Jackie, what are you doing here?"

"Just seeing if you needed some help, jeeze, relax Martin you look like you've run around the block. Well, if you want to handle all the server issues here I don't mind helping anyone having any issues today. Just don't say I didn't offer!"

While she looked exactly the same, there seemed to be a shift in her mind. After looking at his phone again he could see she was still set as an IT Specialist.

"Wait, sorry, I didn't mean to sound so surprised. It's just...since everyone else took the day off I was expecting to work alone today."

"Oh, yeah those other guys don't take things seriously. It always falls on us. I swear if we didn't show up this company would have already crashed and burned...or be robbed by a computer virus." She took a seat near him, looking over his laptop. "Is the big man in charge down our necks today, or is he out golfing like usual?"

"Oh, yeah, I think I saw Mr. Henderson walking around..."

"Well, the best part of being in IT is at least we can hide in here...I kinda like the beeps and lights of the machines over boring office talk..."

Jackie seemed calm and casual, and even more like how the IT guys would act. Martin didn't believe what was happening, this had to be some elaborate prank. While Jackie got up and walked around to check the machines she was still loaded in his app. He tapped the text box to assign roles once more, and thought to himself. Gulping, he decided to do one more test. With a little hesitation, he typed out 'girlfriend' and hit enter. He didn't know what to expect, or if it was even something that would work. Looking over, he couldn't find Jackie, until he felt two hands cover his eyes.

"Guess who!"

Martin was alarmed, and felt the hands covering his face. They felt soft, small, and there seemed to be some nail polish. The voice was undoubtedly Jackie, and he took the hands off and looked behind him. She sneaked up behind him rather quietly, and actually looked a bit different. Now Jackie was in a casual pair of jeans, graphic tee, and sneakers. She looked rather happy to see him.

"You sure I should be in here? Won't your boss get mad? All this stuff looks pretty expennnsive!" She said, now more puzzled by all the sounds and lights.

"W-what do you mean?"

"Well, I wanted to visit you at work today. Hope that I won't get you in trouble if I'm distracting..."

Martin was trying to process this. Just the very act of changing her 'role' made her clothes change, and assuming her life changed as well.

"...babe, when are you on lunch...we could grab a bite and I'll head home after that..."

Looking back at the phone, the image reflected her new attire, and the role of 'Girlfriend' was still there.
