'Believe me,' John said, shaking his head. 'You couldn't afford that. But more temporary arrangements can be made. You got a place to go?'

'Yeah,' the woman nodded, a sly look in her eye. 'I've got a hotel room nearby.'

'That'll work,' John tugged at Karen's chain, bringing the increasingly agitated redhead closer to him.

'What are you doing?' She hissed, arms folding over her chest.

'Oh, you'd best keep quiet, Miss Gillan,' John punctuated her name as though it were a threat. 'Because I could very easily just rip that wig off of you, right here and right now, and then we'll see what's a bigger problem for you: one girl, or a hall full of snap-happy pervs. Now are you coming, or do I need to get started on your big reveal?'

To demonstrate his willingness, John reached up and took the braid of the wig in his hands, giving it a warning tug. Karen said nothing in response, only whimpering and allowing him to lead her through to the exit, winding past the thronging crowd with the dark haired woman.

'What's your name?' He asked her, once they had gotten outside into the open air where things were quieter. 'Your real one, I mean. Not like Leia, over here.'

'Sam,' she said, then added. 'Samantha.'

'Alright Samantha, lead the way,' John shrugged and, still holding onto the fake chain leash, struck out after her. It turned out that Sam's hotel was only down the street from the convention, but for Karen the journey was interminable and filled with the lewd, hushed comments of those she passed, her "outfit" completely unfitting for the exposed environment. Even the receptionist looked at her funny, as the trio marched past to the elevator and then up the short distance to Sam's third floor room.

'Now then,' John barely waited for the door to close behind them before tugging Karen's wig off and letting it fall discarded to the floor. 'Perhaps you understand why you couldn't afford this girl of mine, now? You recognize her?'
