Chapter 13 by Seel Seel

What Happens Next?

Weiss and Yang's Lunch

"Ugh, where is she?"

Weiss glared at Ruby's empty spot on the table. Yang sat across from her while Blake sat on her left. They ate readily. Weiss ground her teeth.

"You interrupted my important research, but couldn't be bothered to make sure your sister was here?" she asked Yang.

Yang chewed, staring at Ruby's empty spot.

"Not like her to miss lunch," Yang said, looking up at the menu. "There serving cookies today."

"Must have found something more important," Blake said, eating sushi while she read Ninjas of Love.

Weiss groan and went back to her soup. She barely had a sip when people were shouting, "Ghost!" She groaned and face-palmed.

"Sometimes, I feel like I'm surrounded by idiots," she said.

"But we're your idiots!" Yang said.

Weiss didn't entertain the response. She looked up at the students raising comotion. One of them was a photographer, holding his camera.

"It was holding it like this," he said, holding it out. "And then I... I felt something."

"Me, too," said a girl next to him. "It was hard."

"It was soft to me."

Weiss watched the scene play out. As she did, a horrible thought struck her. Without saying a word, she stood up.

"Whatcha doing?" Yang asked.

"Come with me," Weiss said without looking at her.

Weiss marched towards the photographer.

"What happened?" she asked, crossing her arms.

"Um, well," the photographer started. Stammering, he recounted the events. "I know it sounds crazy."

"You said you snapped a picture, right?" Weiss asked. "Well, maybe it caught something."

"Like what?"

"I don't know! Maybe a distortion in the air! Just check!"

"O-okay." The photographer hurriedly started scanning his photos.

"What's this about?" Yang muttered to Weiss.

"I have a theory," Weiss said, her body shaking. "And you'll want to know if it's true."

The photographer blinked.

"This... I didn't take this," he said. He narrowed his eyes. "But that's the time in the corner."

"Let me see." Weiss took the camera and turned the screen to her and Yang.

"Oh, shit," Yang said. "She's in trouble."

The screen portrayed a picture of Ruby, from the shoulders up. Her eyes were wide in surprise and daze. Her skin was bear, making it clear she was naked.

“Looks like the computer on this camera scanned her just fine. If we printed it, she wouldn’t appear’” Weiss said. “But like this? We can see her just fine.”

"Where's the Ghost now?" Yang asked the photographer.

"They're saying it's at the pool," the photographer said quietly.

"That dolt stole my Dust," Weiss growled. "Get Blake, we're going hunting."

What's Ruby doing now?
