Chapter 36 by Luquier

Week 1: Elise's Date, Part 3

It had been around another hour of Aífe painstakingly searching through the Japanese spellbook when she and Elise were interrupted by a surprise visitor—Ember, walking in from the kitchen, carrying a plate of sandwiches and a large glass containing a parfait.

“I apologize if these are not what you would have preferred.” Ember bowed her head slightly. “However, I assumed that you would prefer food that could easily be eaten while reading. As for the parfait, it was recommended by April and May that I bring you one to share. They said that Lady Aífe would approve.”

“These will be fine, thank you, Ember.” Aífe had to stifle a giggle—sharing a parfait on a date is something straight out of yuri manga, after all. Now if only we were at an aquarium instead of a library for our date. Aífe thought to herself.

“I am glad to hear it.” Ember’s tail swished. “There is one other matter that brings me here, however. Miss Elise, what did you want me to prepare for your evening with Lady Aífe in her suite?” She looked expectantly at the blonde.

“Oh, that’s right.” Elise said before pausing for a moment. “Actually…” She motioned for Ember to get closer, whispering her request in the salamander’s ear.

“I see.” Ember responded flatly. “That can be done.” It was hard for her to tell, since Ember’s voice was always somewhat monotone, but she almost seemed… disappointed? Her tail had drooped slightly, supporting that interpretation. Her purpose fulfilled; Ember left to go back to the kitchen.

Despite being given food that could be eaten while reading, neither were the type to do so, so they took a break for lunch, enjoying the variety of berries in the parfait—and neither bringing up that the dairy in it was almost certainly sourced from the two women working at the café. Their meal finished, they let their food settle while sipping fresh cups of tea that May had brought them (Aífe selected the right one, this time—she wouldn’t want their waitress getting uneven). Now sated, they returned to their work, hoping to make some progress before post-lunch drowsiness slowed them down.

“See this character, right here?” Aífe leaned forward as she pushed the book toward Elise, pointing to what appeared to be a rectangle with three horizontal lines inside of it. “That’s the kanji for ‘eye,’ and this part also has the characters for ‘open,’ ‘see,’ and ‘truth.’ I’m willing to bet that we can use it to let you read other languages.”

“If you’re certain, I suppose we could…” Elise had started, but she became distracted. As she’d begun moving her eyes upward to meet Aífe’s, they’d stopped once she reached the redhead’s chest, catching the very clear view of Aífe’s cleavage that was on display as she leaned forward. It was at this moment that Elise finally took notice of the deep, black V-neck that Aífe had chosen to wear on their date. After a period of openly staring—the length of which Elise couldn’t be sure of but in reality had only been a couple of moments—the sound of Aífe clearing her throat brought Elise out of her stupor. “Yes! We could try it, if you think it will work.” She hastily finished her thought, frantically turning her gaze away before her eyes could be tempted again. Aífe, meanwhile, felt a rush of satisfaction at her appearance finally being noticed. Yes! Aífe cheered to herself. I was beginning to worry that she was never going to check me out.

Unbeknownst to Elise, Aífe had an agenda for this date—a lesbian agenda, if you will. For all of Elise’s talk about them no longer being teacher and student, Aífe knew that her professor would still be extremely hesitant to act on her newfound attraction to women, and that she’d be doubly hesitant to explore any sort of intimate relationship with a woman who used to be her pupil. And Aífe desperately wanted this wall broken down. Not only because Elise couldn’t afford to be eliminated—the stakes were high for all of Aífe’s harem, of course, but Elise was the only one with a daughter waiting for her back home—but for another reason, as well. The second, however, was admittedly more selfish. That being the fact that, having spent somewhere over a hundred hours with the very attractive older woman while Aífe was still a horny college student, it could be argued that Elise was the woman whom Aífe had the largest crush on out of everyone there. Greater powers had seen fit that Aífe was given this opportunity she never would have had normally, and she wasn’t going to just sit there and leave it to chance.

“Let’s see… if I’m translating it correctly, it should say something like ‘Open my eyes so that I can see the truth.’” Aífe continued working to find a spell for Elise to try. “Why don’t you try casting it in English and see if that works? I don’t think it’s a good idea to risk having an inexperienced speaker mispronounce a spell.”

“Fair enough.” Elise closed her eyes and focused. Like her previous attempt, she was able to feel a power within her. She willed the power to flow as she cast the spell. “Open my eyes so that I can see the truth!” She felt the power flow into her eyes before fading. She opened them, looking down at the book… which was still in Japanese. The spell didn’t work.

“Can you read it?” Aífe eagerly asked. “I mean, the spell must have done something—your eyes turned pink!”

“No, sadly it—” Elise had begun answering, but stopped as she stared dumbfounded, a part of her worrying that her heart might stop from the shock. When Elise’s eyes had moved upward to look at Aífe while answering, they widened at the sight of Aífe’s naked breasts. “Um… no, I don’t think it worked.” Elise couldn’t put together the words to describe what the spell actually did. Aífe frowned in response, and focused her attention back on the book.

“Hmm…” Aífe flipped through a few more pages. “I just don’t know, then. You’d think that Sera would have actually given you a way to learn magic, not just cast random spells.”

“Of course, there’s a way for her to learn magic.” Sera’s voice startled both of them as she entered from the other door they’d seen when they walked into the café. Aífe silently cursed—she’d thought she’d gotten used to the Host’s sudden entrances, but apparently not.

Elise, meanwhile, was left staring, dumbfounded, at Sera’s obscene appearance. Her gigantic breasts, her childbearing hips, the confirmation that the carpet does indeed match the drapes, all the way down to the glint of gold that could be seen at Sera’s crotch. Dear God, is that a clit ring? Elise had heard that some women were crazy enough to pierce themselves down there, but she’d never actually seen one. Catching Elise’s eyes, Sera flashed a knowing smile before crossing her arms under her breasts to emphasize them further. She clearly knew what the spell Elise just cast was meant to do.

“If that’s true,” Aífe argued, unable to see the things that were making it hard for Elise to focus, “then why are none of your spellbooks in languages that we can read?” She held up a random book written in Russian to illustrate her point.

“That’s because those aren’t the books she’s meant to be learning from.” Sera shrugged, making her breasts bounce. “Her magic falls under the school of Sapphism, so it would follow that her learning materials would be in the yuri section. Oh, and your eyes should be back to normal in about 6 hours, by the way, Miss Elise.” Great. Elise thought to herself, sarcastically. That’s only the rest of our date.

“I thought it was strange that there weren’t any yuri series in the manga section.” Aífe mused. “So where are you hiding them? Where’s the yuri?”

“I’m not hiding them at all, Lady Aífe.” Sera gave her a slightly confused look. “Haven’t either of you thought to check the second floor? The entire upper level is the yuri section.” Sera began to leave, waving goodbye. “Now that you know where to look, I’ll leave you both to your experimentation.” She winked at Elise on the last word.

“Well, no point in hitting our heads against the wall with these.” Aífe sighed and stood up once Sera was gone, unknowingly revealing everything to her date. Unable to control them, Elise’s eyes immediately drifted downward to her student’s smooth, virgin slit. “Hey, are you doing okay, Elise?” Aífe’s concerned voice brought Elise back to attention. “You’re acting kinda weird. Not to mention you look pretty flushed.”

“Oh, um… I’m doing fi—” Elise’s reply was cut short when Aífe leaned over and placed her hand on Elise’s forehead, giving Elise another perfect view of the redhead’s breasts.

“You’re not running a fever, at least.” Aífe stood back up and began grabbing books. “Once we get to practicing, let me know if you need to take a break or stop.” Damn, I wanted her to start checking me out, but she’s been openly staring at me for the past few minutes. Aífe thought as she gathered the books into stacks. Not that I mind too much if she wants to undress me with her eyes. Walking away to take a stack of books back to the library, Aífe couldn’t see that Elise’s eyes were glued to her ass as it swayed with each footstep.

Once the irrelevant books were put back on the shelves, Aífe climbed the stairs to the second floor, with Elise following behind her. They found the atmosphere there to be entirely different from the first floor—rather than a standard library, this looked about halfway between the adult and general sections at a Japanese book store, with a dash of convention artist alley thrown in for good measure. Every wall was lined with rows and rows of yuri, in nearly every form of physical medium, and most of the wall space not filled with book shelves was instead decorated with posters, wall scrolls, and figures of cute lesbians doing cute things (like each other). Entering such a promised land of lesbianism was nearly enough to move Aífe to tears.

“Holy crap.” Aífe said, awestruck. “I’m definitely bringing Aoba here next week—though, on second thought, it might be hard to get her to leave once she sees this.” She examined a shelf filled with scrolls, discovering that they were all written in ancient Greek, and all bore the same signature. “Don’t tell me—are these actual works from Sappho?!”

“I’ve heard the name before, but I don’t remember the context, unfortunately.” Elise said as she futilely searched for a corner of the room she could stare at that didn’t feature the nude female form. “I’m not as familiar with Greek writing, outside of Homer and the others that are taught in the more intro-level courses at our school. It just wasn’t my area of focus.”

“She’s a poet—Sappho of Lesbos. She’s like the OG lesbian—she’s literally where we get the words use to describe women who are attracted to women. If there was a museum for the history gay girls, her works would basically be the Mona Lisa.” Aífe gingerly set down the scroll and continued scanning the shelves until she came upon another familiar name—this time in the doujinshi section. She burst into laughter upon seeing the name. “You’re kidding me! They actually have Aoba’s manga that she wrote last year.” Aífe held up a small book for Elise to see, titled How Sweet is the Caged Flower’s Nectar? The cover featured a nude, collared woman (who looked suspiciously similar to the work’s author) lying on her back and fruitlessly attempting to cover herself.

“Oh, my.” Elise blushed. “I had no idea that Aoba was an author. Or that she wrote such… interesting books.” It was clear that Elise was struggling to find something polite to say.

“That settles it, I’m bringing her here, hiding this, and then showing it to her if she refuses to leave.” Aífe giggled mischievously as she moved on to the next shelf. After a few more minutes of searching (and taking mental notes of things that she was definitely going to read on her next trip to the library), she finally found what they were looking for. “Hey, Elise, I found them! They’ve got An Introduction to Sapphic Spellwork, Yurimancy for Dummies, and How to Bewitch Bitches and Slay like the Fae. I think the last one is more of a fashion guide, though.”

“I think the first book should be enough for today.” Elise said with a hint of concern at the last title. Aífe set the other books aside and sat down, cross-legged, on the floor to get to reading, once again flashing her privates to her professor. Elise got even more flustered. “Wait! Shouldn’t we, um… find somewhere else to do this?” She said, averting her eyes but finding no safe places to look.

“I mean, I figured you’d just want to get down to business as soon as we found it.” Aífe tilted her head in confusion. “Is there something wrong with doing it here?” Aífe’s phrasing had Elise feeling as if her heart was going to beat loudly enough to be audible.

“It’s just… safety!” Elise managed to put together a reasonable excuse. “We’re not sure what kind of spells are in that book. We wouldn’t want to do anything that might damage the library. We should go somewhere where our surroundings are less fragile… and flammable.”

“I guess you’re right.” Aífe groaned as she got up, not noticing Elise’s gaze repeatedly shifting her way before frantically darting back. “Why don’t we go ask April and May if they know a good spot?” Aífe gestured toward the stairs, and this time, Elise walked in front. She figured it was best to stay focused when descending—she wouldn’t want to trip down a flight of stairs because she was too busy gawking at her date’s naked ass. They successfully returned to the first floor without injury, and headed back to the café in their continued quest to teach Elise how to use her magic.
