Chapter 10 by Machrider Machrider

On the path to the final showdown...

Weasel vs Wolf. One final showdown

Texas had been through quite a bit this faithful day. From being kidnapped, to throwing down with three of her most rowdy foes, to even sharing a heart to heart with her own rival. And now, it was time to settle the score with that no good scoundrel of a mutt. Approaching the lone cabin that sat at the base of the mountainside, Texas kicked open the door and turned her head. Spotting the lone gunner sat cozily in a wooden stool, feet elevated up and resting on a nearby desk, all the while wearing Texas's own hat in the process of it all.

"so you actually came. Had a hunch you'd break outta there without any issues~ Glad you finally made it then, the carts just about'ere. How's about you be a good girl now and take a seat side lil'ol me~ I promise, I won't bite~ Wouldn't make much'a profit off ya if you were in pieces now, hehehaha~!"

Texas had just about enough of this no good hound acting like he was such a hotshot. It sickened her to no end. Clenching her fists and eyes beaming directly at Vlad, Texas rose her voice at the vile man, even calling him as such. "Vlad the vile, as the sheriff of Gold Springs, I'm taking you into custody for the following charges: ****, theft, and most importantly of all; disrespecting the law in my town! Stand up and put yer hands'hind your head ya varmint!"

"My oh my Texas, I see you're fired up now! Wonder what coulda set you off so badly~? Well, whatever it is...I don't care~ You lost fair and square Sheriff, and you knew my terms~ Why should I just go peacefully with ya when we both know who's the top dog between the two of us~"

Texas wanted to strangle the wolf on the spot for that unclever and stupid remark, her fists shaking with anger once again as she slammed them onto the table his feet were on, shaking the entire thing and nearly breaking it in the process! "Then how's about this ya sleezeball....double or nothing."

"Double or nothing? hehe Sweetcheeks, double OF nothing is still nothing~ Why in the hell would I agree to something so idiotic~ You got nothing for me to take....or DO you~" Vlad leaned up close to Tex's face now, his sour breath oozing its way from his mouth and tickling the innards of Tex's nose, yey she wouldn't be fazed by something so miniscule, not when she had EVERYTHING on the line. "Easy. My pride ya twit. I'm willing to bet EVERYTHING now that I can beat you this time around. You win by some miracle, then I'll go peacefully. No games. No tricks."

The thought did entice Vlad, that's for certain. The idea of breaking the spirits of those who challenged his alpha complex was always a joyous time to him. But what had him so concerned with the matter was...Tex's confidence. She seemed so sure she could beat him this time around. But why? She couldn't have figured him out, nah it'd be impossible! His tracks were clean as springwater. He knew this was a easy win~

"My oh my, you really know how to butter up a man real good Mrs. Stanton~ Alright, you're on. One final showdown to see who's the better gunner~ And when I win...do try and work that tongue of yours real well on that keister of mine, I've been sweating up a STORM back there all day, fwoo doggy hahaha~!"

"Not on your life, ya disgusting mutt." With the jokes and threats out of the two, both Texas and Vlad made their way outside, the tone of the dessert remaining an eerie sense of quiet, as the two remained still. Texas had run through all the info Roxxie told her three times already, and yet Texas was still terrified to take the risk. If Roxxie was wrong and Texas manages to get the shot...and there isn't a gun there...No. No Texas couldn't think like that. She had to stay strong. Even if Roxxie was wrong, she had to remain brave and push forward. Not for herself, but for Gold Springs...for the people she swore to honor and protect with her life till the day she kicked the bucket. Steeling up her nerves and bracing herself, it was only a matter of the moment now....to feel when the draw was right...One shot to make this right.

Meanwhile, Vlad was having his own thoughts clouding his mind now as well. Just what is with this Sheriff? Where did this sense of confidence and stoic come from? Why was she so sure she could beat him at a duel this time and why was he doubting himself! He had to calm down or else risk losing his cover. His left hand, his bluff hand remained still, but his right one, the one holding the second revolver he had hidden, was starting to shake. She couldn't have figured him out, it just wasn't possible....he had to keep his cool, he had to!

With a sharp sense shooting through both of their minds in a mere instant, both Sheriff Stanton and Vile Vlad knew it was time. Texas, her hand managing to move with incredible speed, managed to get her gun off the holster with ease, elevating her arm and readying her shot! Vlad on the other hand, once again moving his left hand far too slow by comparison, now with no cover of the sand or dust blowing in the way, readied his real gun which he kept hidden! At the top of their lungs, the two called it out to one another. One last time.

"DRAW"
