Chapter 17 by Orlog4 Orlog4

What awaits you behind the gate?

Wealth and luxury beyond your imagination

When the gate opens you are let on the biggest plot of land you have ever seen. It is about twice the size of a sport stadium. The mansion in the middle looks like a palace and you are sure there would be enough place for twenty families to live. The parking lots in front of the mansion alone has enough space for ten big cars. And according to Eric, there is another one for the servants at the end of the plot of land.

You get out of the car and when you turn around there is a man in his mid-thirties with an elegant, noble suit. He looks a little like a penguin, so you assume he is a servant of your father.

“Ah, young mistress Ashley” the servant says and bows slightly, “we have expected you. Let me say it is an honor to meet a new member of the family.”

“Keep cool, Matt,” Eric says amused, “she is not a real princess. Is the boss waiting?”

“I’m devastated, but the master is in his office because of a very important matter,” Matt answers sad, “this means we will lead you around and show you the estate.”

“So, my father, who I haven’t seen in my whole life ordered his henchmen to bring me here, if necessary even against my will, and then he hasn’t even time to meet me?” you ask skeptically, “is this some kind of joke?”

“As I said, I’m devastated, but the master is a very busy man,” the servant mumbles uncomfortable, “but when you follow me, I can show you everything important in the house. We will meet your father at dinner.”

“Well, seems like she is your problem now,” Eric says grinning and heads off, “I go back to work. If you need anything, just call.”

You nod silently and follow the servant to the big double door. It has twice the high of a normal door and you are sure it weights a ton. It’s not that surprising that the servant opens the door with a key card that activates a motor.

The entry hall is amazing. It goes over two floors and has stairs at the sides which lead to some doors in the next floor. The ground is made of marble and partly covered by a large carpet. Two rows of smoothly polished quartz pillars hold the high ceiling.

“The house has four floors,” the servant says proud, “the basement is for storage, the boiler and there is a private area for your fathers personal matters. Only one of the servants is allowed to go in there. The ground floor is mostly for servants. We have or quarters, the kitchen, a shared bathroom and a room for spare time. The library and the private gym are also in this room.”

“My father has an own gym?” you ask surprised.

“Indeed, young mistress Ashley, there is a private gym with some training equipment and even a personal trainer,” the servant answers, “it is mostly used by the masters guests, but he, the young master William and a few of us servants also use it sometimes. Are you into fitness? If you are, you will like it.”

The tour leads you one of the stairs up and straight through a long corridor. It ends in a room as high as the entrance hall. But this room is not empty. A big table, some plants, a piano and a guitar let it look noble. Like for some kind of gala. Also impressive is the window. It goes over the whole wall and shows the garden, a big swimming pool with a little hut at the side and another small building in the garden. It looks very beautiful.

“This is the Salon,” the servant tells you, “here the masters family will eat together and socialize. I assume you already acknowledged the view. We have a large garden for outdoor activities and growing vegetables. The latter one was my own idea and the master is very pleased with the results.”

“Impressive,” you admit, “is the piano for entertainment?”

“On private parties among the servants, one of my colleagues played the guitar,” the servant answers a little sad, “but he is not employed here anymore. The instruments are just for decoration, to be honest. Well, then let me show you your room know.”

“Oh, one last question,” you interrupt, “you mentioned four floors. Until now it have been three. What is in the fourth?”

“Oh, that’s just the attic,” the servant mumbles and shrug his shoulders, “it is empty as long as I remember.”

You nod slightly and follow the servant to another corridor. This time it goes over a corner. There are only a few doors and the servant stops in front of the fourth door.

“And this will be your room,” the servant answers, “It is quite empty right now, but I know that the master has already sent someone to get your stuff from your old home. I … I want to express my condolence for your loss. And I’m sorry the master didn’t had the time to give you the tour himself. I hope I could show you everything appropriately.”

It seems like the servant expects some kind of answer. A little sigh that shows him you are pleased or not, since he can’t assess you jet.

What do you want to tell him?
