A SPY?
Way to fail the stealth check.
I'm not sure how quickly Siobhan and I turned around to face our apparent spectators. To me, it felt like I was moving faster than the speed of sound and/or as if I was stuck on slow-mo. Did we just get caught by the Mystical Item Police? Is there a Mystical Item Police? All I know is that what I wasn't expecting was two teenagers to be standing behind us.
The teens, a boy and a girl, looked like they were probably between senior year of high school and freshman year of college. "I don't know what just happened, but I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with that little rock you keep rolling around." The boy said." Jenny and I were watching as that blonde woman left the parking lot. You two were staring at her from the moment she got out of, except when you dropped that thing and then went back to staring at her." This kid was a fairly normal looking teen. A couple acne spots, a mop of unruly hair. Not bad looking by any means, but he wouldn't stand out in a crowd.
The girl wasn't much different. Very cute in the "girl-next-door" way She wasn't bereft of curves, but it definitely looked like puberty hadn't hit her as hard as others.

"Max that wasn't just any 'blonde woman.'" She interjected. "Remember last year when my sister's lemonade stand got shut down for not having a permit? I'm pretty sure she's the one who called the cops. I'm not 100% positive, but if I'm right, there's no way that woman would just go around flashing the Farmers' Market. Did you guys do something to her?"
Siobhan's brain seemed to have stalled out trying to explain the situation so I jumped in. "How could we have done something to her? Magic? Pshh." I noticed the teens' eyes hadn't left the die. "This is just a little game we play while people watching. Makes it more interesting."
It was pretty obvious they weren't buying it. "Well...explain the game to us, please. If you wouldn't mind, that is." Jenny beseeched us.
That snapped Siobhan's brain back into gear. "Okay. But not here." She said as she stood up. "It's a bit naughty, and after that display we should probably go somewhere a little more quiet. How about we head to the park across the street? It's usually pretty empty during big events like this."
As we wandered through the crowd we made small talk. The kids had just graduated high school and were going to be going to college in the fall. Max was adamant they weren't dating, a statement that seemed to put a damper on Jenny's spirits. We found ourselves a secluded picnic table and sat down, Siobhan and I on one side, Jenny and Max on the other.
"Okay, we're out of the crowd, what the fuck is that thing, and what are you doing with it?" Max's patience, it would seem, had been exhausted.
"It is just a twenty side die. You ever play any table top role playing games?"
"Ooh, like Dungeons and Dragons?" Jenny asked while Max was shaking his head no.
"Exactly." I said. "Siobhan and I are just using it to wager on stuff."
"Bullshit. You dragged us over here because it was 'naughty.'" He pointed at Siobhan, and stared at her tits. "Tell us what's really going on with that thing."
I'd had enough with this shit's attitude. "Okay. But under my terms. First, you have to acknowledge that this is mine, and that is not a point that is up for debate. Agreed?"
Jenny was clearly interested. "Yes!" All we got out of Max was a begrudging "Fine."
Getting a nod from Siobhan, I went on. "This is a magic item. You propose a theoretical concept, and roll the die. Based off what it lands on, your situation might become real."
"Again. Bullshit."
"Well, there's another feature. If we stake a wager on it, the terms are enforced. You feeling lucky kid?"
"Fuck you old man. Sure."
"Okay. I roll the die. If it comes up between one and ten, you two have to swap underwear here and now. Eleven to twenty, we'll tell you everything we know about it, and then give you a roll of your own. Subject to our approval of course." Then I turned up the glare I was leveling the kid. "If you've got the stones to take the bet, that is."
"Roll the dice. Hell, worst case scenario I get to show my hog to your girl. Not like Jenny even wears a bra! HAHAH!"
"A, it's die. Singular. B, Jenny, you're involved in this too, are you game?" I turned to look at the young woman. She was clearly deep in thought, but she did quietly say yes.
"Okay, here we go." I sent the Eye of Cerdiwen skittering across the table where it came to a rest. We all shifted to get a better look at the result.
Who won the bet?
