Chapter 12
by The-Drunken-Bandit
Where do you start?
Water
As you look upon the different symbols of the nations, your eyes immediately zoom in on the water tribe symbol…
Your mind begins to consider the thought that would be best to start with the weakest nation of three…
As you begin to zoom in on the water nation symbol and begin to open it up and begin to examine the two different tribes of the water nation. Vexus comments on the rather… Primitive way of life…
“Hmm… Now, who are these savages?” Vexus questions as she stares at the image of the southern water tribe as they barely scrape by. You can easily tell by the expression on Vexus’s face that she does not hold the water nation in high regard.
However, you know the true potential that the water nation offers you…
“These unlucky tribesmen that you call ‘savages’ are the southern water tribe. The rather unlucky half of the water nation. Once upon a time, their tribe was one of the greatest in the world, but the constant fire nation raids made them weak and completely decimated their number of water Bender’s.” You explain to your Hench of the current in which the southern water tribe finds themselves in. At this Vexus looks at you with a look of apathy, as she does not care for a group that she deems as tribal savages.
“So they’re completely useless to us then.” Vexus bites out snippily, as she crosses her arms. However, you shake your head at her response.
“No. While the southern water tribe may not contain any more benders. They, unlike their northern counterparts, have been in a constant naval guerrilla war against the fire nation. As a result, the southern water tribe produces the greatest sailors the world has ever seen. The sailors know every Seaway, smuggler route, and can sail a ship through the worst terrain and environment imaginable.” You explain to your Hench. At this new information, Vexus loses her apathetic look and seems to gain a glimmer of interest in her eyes.
It seems Vexus understands the importance of that the southern tribe’s abilities offer you both. For it would be very easy to have the southern tribe drop off and create staging grounds for your armies to invade. However, she does have a questioning look in her eye as she brings up a rather important question.
“You said ‘unlike their northern counterparts.’ Do you mean to inform me that the northern tribe of the water nation has not been involved in this war that has lasted over 100 years?” Vexus questions with skepticism and a raised brow. At this question, you nod and bring up an image of the northern tribe.
As the image of the northern tribe becomes clear, you can immediately see the stark differences between the northern and southern tribes. Where as the southern tribe has only a small village that is made out of igloos and fur huts. The northern tribe, on the other hand, has an entire city constructed of ice and snow, that is defended by a gigantic ice wall.
Where as the southern tribe is barely scraping by for food, it appeared that the northern tribe wanted for nothing as the many citizens of the northern tribe walked by with food.
However, the most important fact was that where the southern tribe had only one Water Bender left in the form of the chief’s daughter. The northern tribe was overflowing with water Bendors as you could see that they were beginning to do maintenance on the giant ice wall by repairing the wall with newly created ice from the water that surrounded them.
Vexus’s eyes widened at the stark contrast between the northern and southern tribes.
“Yes, the northern tribe has been staunchly isolationist the last 60 years of the war. As a result of their isolationism, they have completely abandoned their southern brothers and sisters.” You explain your Hench. In response, Vexus looks at you with ludicrousness, as she raises a rather important question.
“Abandoned? What do you mean abandoned?!” Vexus questions with disbelief. In response, you sigh to yourself before explaining the sheer stupidity of the northern tribe.
“What I mean is that they had completely abandoned their southern half in their choice of isolationism. However, this is unsurprising considering that the southern tribe was once a part of the northern tribe, but left due to ideological differences. As a result, the southern tribe was seen by the North as second-class citizens as a result. Of course, the southern tribe still answer to the northern tribe for many years, until 40 years into the current war. During that time the northern tribe cut all contact with the outside world. As a result, this has left the southern tribe on its own and as a result, has become independent of the northern tribes rule. Though this is not with its problems as the southern tribe now has a slight resentment towards the northern tribe for abandoning them to fire nation’s cruel actions.” You elaborate further to the former queen’s dismay and disbelief. Vexus looks at you with a scowl as she processes this new information.
The reason for this scowl was because Vexus was a former ruler herself and understood that what the northern tribe did was completely unacceptable. Her reaction was explained more as she elaborated in her response to this new information.
“Are you telling me that an entire nation of abandoned its people, only to hide its head in the sand to avoid an inevitable conflict that they will one day have **** but to fight in?!” Vexus yelled at the new information presented to her. In response, you nodded as you elaborated a little bit more on the northern tribes choice to abandon its people.
“Unfortunately yes, you see the northern tribe is run by a Council of Chiefs who are led by the head chief of the water tribe. It was their decision and advisement to the current chief of the time, to completely cut off contact with the outside world to preserve themselves and their culture.” You elaborate much to Vexus’s ever growing frustration.
“So instead of fighting an enemy that they knew would one day come for them, the leaders of this nation decided to hide like cowards instead of fighting for their people like a good ruler should?!” Vexus question in frustration. In response, you nod again. Vexus’s eyes twitch slightly, and you can see the insanity within her eyes begin to bubble up, this gets worse; however, as you explain the… Cultural division in the people.
“Well… _Sigh… _Might as well get this out then. You see the northern tribe is also extremely… sexist. So much so that any female water Bender born cannot learn how to defend themselves. While this has created great healers throughout the world, it is also had a rather nasty side effect. As this combined with the fact that they had had no combat experience outside of defending their borders leads the northern tribe to be rather… Weak…” At your explanation, Vexus’s eyes twitch even more, as now she takes in the full stupidity of the northern water tribe. All of this comes to a head eventually as Vexus leans back and lets out a scream of frustration at the complete mismanagement of the northern water tribe.
Well as Vexus comes down from her little frustrated scream, we need to turn our attention back how are going to conquer this world.
As You begin to think to yourself and ask the all-important question of…
How do you gain the water tribes loyalty?
