Chapter 119 by airwreck airwreck

What happened next?

Wake-up calls.

"You should take the stairs," Jonathan suggested when Hane walked towards the elevator doors.

"Why?" she wondered, not really wanting to climb up five flights of stairs back to her floor.

"Just in case one of the girls is going to take the elevator and they see you in the car," he explained. "She'll wonder if why you're going up when your quarters is on the fourth floor."

"Always the SEAL," Hane sighed, nodding in agreement.

"You should go now," he said, motioning her towards the door to the stairwell. "Someone is coming down."

"How do you...?"

"The elevator display," he answered, pointing at the elevator floor display next to the large elevator door — the number was slowly increasing from five to six to seven. "That may be one of the triplets coming down to wake me up."

"Okay..." Hane nodded and tippy-toed to give Jonathan a quick kiss before heading towards the stairwell door. "I'll see you upstairs for breakfast!"

Jonathan touched his lips and was dawning on him of the possible consequences of what he had done with Hane, especially with him mentioning it, albeit not in detail, in his daily journal that Lauren would eventually read. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the elevator ding.

"Morning, Jon!" Crystal chirped as she stepped out of the elevator car.

"Good morning," he responded with a smile.

"How was your sleep?" she asked.

"Great!" he replied. "How come you're down here?"

"I came down to give you a personalized wake-up call!" she giggled.

"Thanks but I'm awake now," he smiled.

"I was hoping to catch you still in bed..." she frowned.

"I was just heading up for breakfast," he said, hitting the elevator button.

"I missed you at the gym earlier this morning," Crystal confessed. Jonathan, the ever gentleman, let her enter the elevator car first.

"Sorry, I was still asleep," he apologized — he knew he was awful at lying and hoped she did suspect him he was actually awake at the time in bed with Hane in his arms.

"I'm surprised you didn't sleep in until noon!" she exclaimed, pressing the buttons to the eighth floor.

"Me too..." he mumbled. "We're waking up everyone?"

"Yup!" she nodded. "Are you going to work out tomorrow morning?"

"Probably," he nodded. "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, I'm just wondering if you need a workout buddy," she giggled as the door opened to the eighth floor.

"With you or also with your sisters?"

"I think they rather sleep in..." she stated, stepping out.

"We would just be working out, right?"

"We'll see..." she smirked with a wink and knocked on Amber's door.

"Crystal, we can't..." he began but was cut short when Amber opened her door.

"What do you... oh hi, Jon!"

"Morning, Amber," he smiled. "Are you ready for breakfast?"

"Yes!" she chirped and hooked his elbow with her arm before they headed over to Jade's quarters.

"Wake up!" Crystal shouted.

"Who is it?" Jade asked from the other side of the door.

"It's Jonathan."

The door flew open. "Morning, Jon!"

"Care to join us for breakfast?" he asked.

"Yes!" she chirped and hooked her arm with his other free elbow, much to the chagrin of Crystal.

"We're going to be working out early tomorrow morning, right?" Amber asked as Jonathan pressed the button for the seventh floor.

"That's my plan..." he mumble.

"Good!" Jade cheered.

"We're just going to exercise, girls..." he sighed, knowing it was a lost cause trying to persuade the triplets that his only intention in the gym was to exercise and nothing else.

"Sex is exercising, right?" Amber innocently asked her sisters.

"Men burn about 100 calories while women burn around 69 calories," Crystal explained and her sister giggled at the latter number.

"But you burn more calories running," Jonathan countered but the triplets ignored him by continuing to ask each other how much energy is burned with different sexual positions.

As soon as they arrived at the next floor, Jonathan was about to exit the elevator car so he could knock the doors to save himself from the triplet's innuendo, however, already standing in front of the elevator were the mechanical and biological engineers.

"Good morning, girls," Jonathan greeted the two young women, holding the door open for them.

"Morning!" they chirped as they entered the lift.

"I thought you would sleep in?" Allison smiled at the sight of the ruggedly handsome doctor.

"Me too," he smiled back, standing aside to let the two women inside the lift. "Are you girls ready for breakfast?"

"Yes, I'm starving!" Eva beamed.

"Do you know what Kaylee is making?" Allison wondered.

"I didn't get a look but it smelled great," Crystal answered. "Angela was helping out frying something."

"We should make sure the engineers are awake so we can eat!" Jade suggested as the elevator door opened to the sixth floor. The group split up into three, each going up to the doors of Zoe's, Natalie's, Leah's quarters.

"Wake up, mei mei!" Amber shouted as she knocked on Zoe's door.

"No!" came the muffled cry from behind the door.

"Zoe!" Allison yelled. "Open up or we'll get Jon to break the door down!"

"He's here?"

"There's only one way to find out!" Amber responded.

"Fine!" Zoe huffed and flung the door open. "Where's Jon?"

"He's at Natalie's room."

"I should go back to sleep..."

"No, you don't!" Amber chastised, grabbing the young computer engineer by the arm.

"Hey, I'm still in my PJs!" Zoe complained futilely as she was led away to the elevator.

"Then you're properly dressed for breakfast!" Allison laughed.

When the group reached the fifth floor they were greeted by Ming Yue, Jennifer, and Cindy, who were patiently waiting for the elevator to arrive.

"Good morning!" Ming Yue cheered at the group.

"We were wondering why the elevator was taking such a long time to come up!" Jennifer exclaimed.

"I had suggested for us to climb up the stairs," Cindy noted while she and her two colleagues entered the elevator car. "Good morning, Jon!"

Jonathan found himself lacking in personal space with several of the women standing uncomfortably close to him even though the freight elevator was spacious for all twelve crew members. He repeatedly pressed the fourth floor button, hoping the elevator car would arrive at the next floor faster.

"How was your sleep?" Cindy asked, moving aside one of the triplets so she could stand next to him.

"Um, great," he smiled at her, trying to hide his anxiety of not wanting to be caught in any potential lie. "How was yours?"

"Good," she smiled back, ignoring the triplets' glares at her.

"Fourth floor!" Jonathan shouted out, gently moving aside the girls when the door opened. "Excuse me, ladies, we should go and make sure Lauren and Hane are awake!" He headed to Hane's room first and knocked.

"Oh, zǎo shàng hǎo!" the neuroscientist smiled nervously, noticing Cindy and the triplets standing behind him.

"Good morning, Hane," he smiled back. "How was your sleep last night?"

"Great!" she replied back, trying to stifle a giggle at her innuendo.

"Anyway, we're just collecting everyone because breakfast should be ready," he said, stepping aside to make room for her.

"Good morning, Jon," Lauren chirped when she saw him walk towards the elevator with the five women in tow. "I hope you had a good night's sleep?"

"Yeah, thanks for asking," he smiled, holding the elevator door open for the female crew.

"You probably didn't have a chance to log your personal journal for yesterday but when you have an opportunity this morning please do so I can do my evaluation," Lauren asked.

"Yes, of course," he nodded, giving a subtle glance at Hane.
