Wait for the workers to leave

Camila decided to wait for the construction workers to leave before stepping out under the dusky sun. She believed the workers would have been subcontractors for the resort and therefore duty-bound to report her.

Fortunately, within five minutes they had driven away in the pickup and Camila left the relative safety of the jungle to ventured into the construction site.

The construction was still in its infancy, only footings were being laid to what looked likely to be an estate of luxury villas. She ran to the site portable cabin and silently peered through a mesh-covered window. It was too dark to see inside so she stepped up to the door and tried the handle.

It was unlocked.

Camila stepped inside with her heart pounding in her fulsome chest.

A threatening growl caused Camila to freeze.

Camila's eyes widened. In the darkness, she noticed a large silhouette of a pit bull. What the hell was the dog doing inside rather than out? It was then she noticed a large safe and an opened tool chest, containing a metal cutting shears hung up on one of its pegs. It was what she was looking for but how to deal with the hungry guard dog?

The dog stepped forward, increasing its growl, challenging her to make her move.
