Wait Till Morning

The old stories had enough of a hold on Arimneste that she decided it might be best to wait until the morning to go up to the cave.

Thanos for his part had the decency not to let on how amused he was by her sudden uncertainty, he was quite happy to sit around until the world came to an end. Of course he wasn’t able to do that even as they say around, within minutes he was being shouted at to get a fire built and to start cooking some of the food they had brought along. Pretty soon they would need to start hunting for game or figure out some way to trade for food with the locals. He wondered to himself how much he could get for a high born virgin like Arimneste but there was no real malice behind it. As much as he found her to be a pain in his neck her father had been good to him, better than he had to be all thing considered and that was enough for him to put up with this whiny cunt.

They set up camp in the shadow of a few boulders that protected them from the worst of the wind coming off of the sea. The fire spat and hissed, shooting out interesting colours as it was fed pieces of driftwood. They cooked a decent meal from what they had left and then sat in silence, neither of them having much to say to the other.

Eventually Arimneste turned in, she had built herself a little cocoon of cloth that hid her from his view. When he had asked about the effort she had made some general remark about him not being worthy of looking upon her sleeping form.

So it was that he eventually turned in, unaware that Arimneste was lying awake behind the sheets. She had lain like this for the past couple of nights, ever since she had realised that out here no-one would know anything that happened. The thought carried both fear and more than a little excitement, of course that idiot Thanos had not realised anything. Not that she would want him to of course!

Yet she drifted off to sleep with a vague sense of disappointment.
