This seems like a good world to get help from, it was a great cartoon that also had a comic series.

The show revolved around the Guardians of Viel, with the first season plot freeing Meridian from Phobos. While the second season brought in a new enemy in the fallen Guardian Nerissa.

This show is full of plenty of skilled and some case magically power and knowledgeable choices to recruit for help. The same choices are also familiar and used to dimensional travel, though on a smaller scale than what your dealing with.

Now let's look and see what options are available to recruit for help.

1. Elyon Brown - The Princess and rightful ruler of Meridian. She has tons of raw magical power though is still perhaps learning how to use her power. But it's obvious she has the potential to be a real magical power house.

Two possible time to recruit Elyon occur to you. The is during the events of Parents Night episode, before Cedric and by extension Phobos can get her. Where you can reveal to Elyon the truth about every her heritage, her brother, and meridians current state, her world being a cartoon series, and the threat of Fuse.

Than you can offer to help her free Meridian from her brother, and help her gain her rightful place as Meridian's ruler. Than together the two of you can start preparing for Fuse and conquering other worlds.

The second option is recruiting Elyon after the end of season 2, this option has Elyon more experience with her magic and ruling. Though this also put her in a stronger position, and perhaps make it harder to gain her trust.

Elyon is indeed a good recruitment option that offers not only magic and resources, but is also someone like you who's normal life was suddenly taken away from her and thrown into a crazy overwhelming situation.

Elyon might dislike the idea of conquering worlds, but the threat of Fuse and helping make sure Meridian is kept safe from the threat could convince her to join you. Also important to remember that chances are no matter when you recruit Kandrakar and the Guardians are bound to get involved in the situation somehow sooner or later.

1. Miranda the spider shapeshifter - Now here's someone with experience in being a minion, and would be more willingly to follow not only for freedom but power as well. Plus the threat of Fuse hanger over head might also provide motivation.

What she lacks in raw power she makes up for in skill, cunning, and willing to do anything to achieve her goals. A good choice for help in planned conquest, though the problem is these same traits make her a danger of backstabbing you like she did to Phobos if you don't truly earn her loyalty.

Another downside is her current loyalty and love to the snake Cedric, but perhaps you could find a way to circumvent that and transfer that loyalty and love to you somehow.

As for when to recruit her one option is before Nerissa can free her in "A is for Anonymous" you could free her instead by summoning her to your lair.Though there's a chance that her cell might be magically protected to prevent something like that happening. But it might not be warded against advanced technology like your using.

Though another option is teleporting during the events of episode J is for Jewel, right before Phobos can punish her for leaving him behind when she first escaped.

1. Astral Will - Oh well now this is a interesting subject who you can easily sway to join you after helping her. She started a mere copy or Astral Drop of the leader of the Guardians Will, intended to keep Will's cover while on Guardian missions. But Nerissa's interference changed her into a Altermere a true thinking sentient being.

But things soon ended in tragedy with Astral Will taking a killing blow and saving the original Will's life, than ended up merging with her original in the end.

But you can prevent that and teleport her to your side before Nerissa attack on her happens. She probably be quite easy to convince since you could offer to help find a true purpose, and perhaps help her figure out who she really is as a person in her newfound humanity.
